Valley Springs, Ca... Tragedy struck our small community on Saturday, April 27th, 2013, when Leila Fowler, a beautiful 8-year-old little girl, was killed in her Valley Springs home. As news of this tragedy spread throughout Valley Springs and beyond, friends and family rallied to help her family get through this horrible time. Hardly even three days after this tragedy struck, a vigil was held at Leila's elementary school...

Free Easter Egg Hunt

Burson, CA...Sunday, March 24, at the Tri Lakes Baptist Church in Wallace, the Wallace-Burson Association and Tri Lakes Baptist Church are presenting a community Easter egg hunt. Registration is from 12:30-1:00, Hunt starts at 1:00, and there will be Crafts, Games, a Raffle, a Puppet Show, and Photos with the Easter Bunny.

Chief Siligo of the Foothill Fire Protection District proudly and rightfully claims a 180 degree turnaround from the previous negative public perception of the FFPD. Currently staffing 20 volunteers, all firefighter certified (with a few currently becoming certified), over 60% carrying a class “B” license, and receipt of a certificate from the Legislature commending them on no missed calls since May of 2007, the FFPD has a right to brag. To clarify the extent of Chief Siligo, the firefighter’s, and his staff’s commitment to a new and better FFPD, one must look at the past....

Foothill Fire Director Anderson Resigns...Now Accepting Applications

On July 13, 2010 Foothill Fire Protection District Director Ed Anderson resigned citing his "philosophy was not in balance with the current board." The resignation was accepted by the board on the July14, 2010 leaving a vacancy to be filled. The District is currently accepting applications for appointment for the vacant position. "Applicants do not have to have experience with fire districts or with serving on public boards. In a media release, board Chairman David Sant said that what is required is "a willing heart and a desire to serve the community."....

Burson Man Arrested for Attempted Robbery

Burson, CA....A Burson man was arrested by Sheriff's Deputies Monday night, November 10th, 2008, after he attempted to rob a homeowner at a residence located on the 5800 block of De Los Angeles Rd. in Burson. At approximately 11:30 PM Mike Nicholson III, 24, knocked on the door of William Six's residence located on De Los Angeles Rd. in Burson. Six answered the door and found Nicholson holding a 10" knife. Nicholson told Six to give him the keys to his best...

CAL Fire States Lawn Mower Cause of 3 Acre Grass Fire in Burson on Saturday

Burson, CA....Three acres of Grass vegetation burned when the grass accumulation on top of a lawn mower deck caught fire states CAL Fire. The fire occurred at 261 Herbert Court in Burson on Sunday August 17th. No injuries reported, dollar damages estimated at $600. Full CAL Fire report enclosed....

Three Small Fires Reported in Calaveras County

Calaveras County, CA....CAL Fire reported three small fires the last couple of days in Calaveras County. The first on occurred on August 11th at the Camanche Campground near Bret Harte Drive in Burson. It was a debris burn in the back of a garbage truck. Cause is unknown. No injuries or dollar damage reported. The second was a small vegetation fire caused by a spontaneous combustion of a debris pile that occurred at 12021 Hunt Road in Milton. No injuries or dollar damages reported. The third occurred on August 12th at 21 Oak Leaf Lane in Burson which was a 1/2 acre of grass vegetation that burned due to faulty wiring running from an electrical panel to the shop. Wiring was not up to code. Dollar damage was not reported. Full CAL Fire reports enclosed....

Valley Springs, CA..."The Calaveras County Taxpayers Association could have waited to announce their endorsement until after the release of the revised draft EIR, which will review the whole project's impact on the aquifer, on surrounding wells, traffic, roads and other consequences to our community. The CCTA press release draws important and erroneous conclusions on information that seems to have come from project supporters, but is not consistent with KIRC's analysis of the public record. If they are representing taxpayers, more due diligence and objective review would have been appreciated.....

Fire Report in for Grass Fire in Burson Yesterday

Burson, CA...CAL Fire is stating a Ford Model 11185 Harvester in motion was the cause of a 5 acre grass fire on May 28th at 3541 Burson Road. Damages are estimated at $1000. No injuries are reported. Fire report enclosed....
