Angels Camp, CA... For the past couple of weeks the fires in California have caused our air to become very smoky and unhealthy. Tomorrow weather professionals are calling out a red flag warning for unhealthy air in northern California. Tonight at 8:10 pm we took some sun setting photos to show you just how red and orange the smoke makes our sun. Be aware of bad air quality when you go outside and play, keep hydrated and don't play heavily for more that an hour.....

Chamber of Commerce & Enterprise Candidates Night for District 4 Packs the House!

Murphys, CA....Native Sons Hall of Murphys was the place to be tonight for the Supervisor Candidates District 4 Night. The Hall was packed with community members trying to decide who they want representing them in their District. Present were Tom Tryon, Lee Seaton, Sarah Lunsford and Ron Klass. This event event was sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce and the Calaveras Enterprise. Each Candidate was asked questions by Moderator, Buzz Eggleston, Editor of the Calaveras Enterprise. The audience also participated in questions for the hopeful candidates. The evening started at 6:30pm and ran until about 8:30pm. The next Candidates Night will be held on Wednesday May 7th at 6:30pm at San Andreas Town Hall for District I Supervisor. Present will be Zerrall McDaniel, Gary Toffanelli and Kathy Mazzaferro. As we get closer to election day the candidates are starting to define their positions in clearer terms. We will be posting some excerpt clips of some of the sharper exchanges in a separate piece. Angels Camp, CA....As they say, "You don't have to be Italian to have fun!" The Angels Camp Business Association did it again.....They put on a wonderful day for the community! On Saturday May 3rd was the 2nd Annual Italian Heritage Day in downtown Angels Camp. The festivities started off your morning with a pancake breakfast at St. Patrick's Church then gander over to the Cavalcade of Cowboy's Parade which proceeded down the Historic District of Angels Camp. There were horses, cowboys, antique carriages and automobiles. Admission was free to the Italian Heritage Day, which was was a full day of fun for the entire family....

Vallecito, CA....Winners names were just released today in the Winery division of the KCRA 3 A-list competition. Out of 84 Wineries nominated in California, Irish Vineyards took 2nd Place putting Calaveras County wines on the map again. San Andreas, CA...After a round of public meetings, including a study session with the Calaveras County Board of Supervisors, and much public dialogue we can report the following to you. We confirmed that the Building Department changed the way they “interpret” our current Fire and Life Safety Code mid year 2007. They were strongly challenged for taking this new position and we did have some limited success in softening the impact. Where the mitigation since 1992 was to pave the driveway, that is no longer the rule of the land....

Murphys, CA....The Native Son's Hall in downtown Murphys had about 30 attendees tonight for the First District 4 Supervisor Candidates Night. The night's event was sponsored by the Mountain Chronicle of Arnold and Vida Mona Winery of Murphys. The candidates present this evening were longtime Supervisor, Tom Tryon, Lee Seaton, Sarah Lunsford and Ron Klass. Also present, were the current sitting Supervisors of Calaveras County. It was a full debate style show with two minute opening statements, panel questions, audience questions and closing arguments....

Angels Camp, CA….A structure fire has been reported at 1104 Bragg Street in Angels Camp. Angels Camp Fire Department was first on scene with three engines; engine 211,212, and 213. Angels Camp, Altaville Melones, Murphys, and San Andreas fire were all departments dispatched. All engines were released except for Angels Camp Fire and one engine from Altaville Melones. “Erik Alldrin and Dennis Brower were the first firefighters on scene with engine 211 and were able to extinguish the fire from the deck,” shared Assistant Chief Terry Bullock.....
