06/28/2017 - Milliaire’s Locals’ Night series is back! Join Them on June 28th
Murphys, CA...Milliaire’s Locals’ Night series is back! Join them on Wednesday, June 28th for live music by The Hot Dark, half price on select wines, food by La Esperanza Taco truck!

Milliaire Winery is a small family-owned winery founded by Liz and Steve Millier in 1983 in the cellar of their former home in Murphys CA. In 1990, the winery moved to an old Flying A gas station on Main Street in Murphys. The whole building was utilized for daily operations; barrels stacked in the repair bays, wine tanks in the backyard, bottling in the front yard and the tasting room in the office. There were jokes about what was in "those tanks" and a friend of the Milliers' dubbed it the "Roadside Chateau". Following their dreams of making premium wines from the Sierra Foothills, today Milliaire Winery has expanded and occupies over an 8,000 square foot winery with a dedicated barrel room and modern crush pad facility. The Milliaire Winery tasting room still resides in the old "Roadside Chateau" at 276 Main Street. Learn more about how Liz and Steve met!

The Winemaker

In 1975, Steve got his first winemaking job at David Bruce Winery in Santa Cruz after graduating from Fresno State with a degree in enology with an emphasis in viticulture. He knows the science and art of winemaking and grape growing from the ground up. After over 40 harvests, Steve is still exploring, learning and, most importantly, having fun in the winery. He is part alchemist, part artist and part farmer. The rest of us are fortunate to enjoy both his company and the fruit of his life's work - great bottles of wine! Read more about Steve's long winemaking career.
06/17/2017 - Celebrate Fete de la Fleur At Milliaire On June 17th!
Murphys, CA...Celebrate the Summer Solstice and flowering of the grapevines with Milliaire! Enjoy an afternoon on their Creekside Patio with live music by Jerry McKay and delicious Yakitori barbecue by Murphys newest business, Rocky's Artisanal Food On the Go! For $10 enjoy a glass of wine and keep the glass, refills for only $7!

06/08/2017 - Calaveras Uncorked Wine Education Night with Steve Millier
Murphys, CA...On June 8th, esteemed winemaker Steve Millier, winemaker for Ironstone Vineyards, Milliaire Winery and Black Sheep Winery will be pouring and showcasing an Ironstone Vineyards portfolio of wines and Lodi counterparts while discussing their sustainable winemaking and viticulture practices. Come learn and taste Ironstone's Gold Medal Winners including their "Best in Show" Double Gold Reserve Viognier! Tickets are only $25 and includes tasting, winemaker discussion and light cheese and appetisers.

The Calaveras Uncorked Wine Education Series will take place quarterly on June 8th, September 14th and December 14th and the start time will be moved to 6:00pm in order to allow more tasting room personnel to attend. The quarterly series will take place in the Mark Twain Ballroom of The Historic Murphys Hotel and the cost is $20 for Wine Alliance members and $25 for non-members. Attendees are encouraged to download the UNCORK CALAVERAS mobile app to stay up to date on all the local wine events happening in the county and the upcoming wine education topics and guests.

The Calaveras Wine Alliance has rebranded and restructured its wine education series previously titled Wines Of The World to Calaveras Uncorked Wine Education Series. The new series will utilize its existing members and winemakers who will provide a more in-depth tasting and discussion of their wines, their winemaking practices and their history here in Calaveras. An emphasis on Calaveras wines will be prominent with each winemaker host offering comparison tastings of various wines from our neighboring regional or global markets.Click Text Here
