IF YOU'RE NEAR MURPHYS...Stop by the tasting room this Saturday when Chef Melly will be cooking up a Turducken...and a ginger-sausage stuffing...and it will taste super-yummy with the Calaveras Zinfandel...and we'll have a rockin' case special on that Zin...and we will send you home with the recipe. All day long on Saturday, November 20th in the Tasting Lounge...no cost. IF YOU'RE IN THE EAST BAY...Stop in at Draeger's Market in Blackhawk where our Rock Star Rep Miss Lindsay Gwin will hold a holiday pouring of some most excellent Calaveras wines from NH, Hatcher and Twisted Oak as well. Sit down with Scott and Mel to enjoy a fabulous feast and share great wines and great friends. Dinner starts at 7pm til 9:30-ish and Melly has concocted a fantastic six-course meal. You WON'T leave hungry! Dinner in the courtyard is their LAST EVENT OF THE SUMMER!! Smoked Salmon Salad with roasted beets, goat cheese and drizzled with pistachio oil. Use NH 2008 Shake Ridge Zinfandel
• 3 large red beets (1 2/3 lb without greens)
• 2 large golden beets (1 lb without greens)
• 1/4 cup minced shallot
• 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
• 3/4 teaspoon salt
• 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
• 1/4 cup pistachio oil
• 4 oz soft mild goat cheese
• 3 tablespoons salted shelled pistachios (not dyed red), coarsely chopped
• 1 oz mâche (also called lamb's lettuce), trimmed (4 cups)
• 2 ½ in round cookie cutter....

Danville, CA...The Sierra Foothills Wine Alliance (comprised of Calaveras, Amador and El Dorado County wineries) would like to invite you to attend "Moving Mountains" The Sierra Foothills Wine Experience. The Alliance's first event will take place Sunday, September 19 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Blackhawk Country Club in Danville (eastern Contra Costa County) and will double as a benefit for the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano, which will collect 100% of the proceeds from an on-site silent auction. Over 30 wineries will be pouring their finest wines, accompanied by delicious, Mediterranean-style finger foods and live flamenco music...

Arnold, CA...Cedar Center in Arnold played host to the 5th Annual Mother Lode Wine & Art Festival on the 21st of August. There was wine from over a dozen different wineries, lots of art, live music, great food, raffle prizes and everyone who attended was give a free pet. Just kidding...this event is a major fundraiser each year for...
