Valley Springs, Ca... Tragedy struck our small community on Saturday, April 27th, 2013, when Leila Fowler, a beautiful 8-year-old little girl, was killed in her Valley Springs home. As news of this tragedy spread throughout Valley Springs and beyond, friends and family rallied to help her family get through this horrible time. Over the last 100 years the way we keep our homes has changed. A house wife is called a domestic engineer. In our home we have built in vacuums, microwaves and dishwashers. But some home making arts are making a come back. Baking and canning are more popular today than they have been in several decades. Some believe this new found popularity is due to “Foodies. A Foodie (sometimes spelled foody) is an informal term for a particular class of aficionado of food and drink. People all across America have fallen in love with food again. At the same time people want to know where their food comes from. Urban gardens are popping up in the most unusual places, tops of buildings, city parks and other creative places. These new trends are not new for Fairs. For over a century the “fair” has showcased the community’s best jams, jellies and produce....

Mountain Ranch, CA...On October 31, 2012, our beloved Friend, Father, Grandfather and Husband, Thomas William Brown lost his 4 year long battle with cancer. Tom was a resident of the close-knit community of Mountain Ranch for the past 14 years, where he made many great friendships. He was a member of the Home Winemakers Association, and produced many award winning wines within the association, as well as for County and State Fairs. He was a trusted father and friend to his son Brent and his wife Terri, who cherished the time spent with Tom, and a wonderful grandfather to Ryan, Jack and Samantha who loved to go fishing and spend time with their “Poppy”. He was the love of his wife Jane’s life, taking care of her and his dog Sutter. Tom loved making wine, was an avid 49ers fan, and was very occupied with his pond & fishing. He maintained close relationships with his childhood friends and his cousin Gary throughout his life. He was a very loyal and sentimental person and valued his community...
