Mountain Ranch, CA...Lucile Fenner, was honored for her many contributions to the community at the 33rd annual Mountain Ranch Day in the Park, Saturday August 25th. In the early 90's she and Mickey Fleming organized the popular Mountain Ranch Garden Group. An original organizer of the San Andreas Habitat for Humanity and served on that board for several years. Won local and regional recognition for her Calaveras County Garden design. Voted Senior of the year in 1998, and was a long time volunteer at the County Library. Lucile, former director of the Mountain Ranch Youth Alliance (MRYA) and the Youth Alliance's Resource Center (MRRC), was instrumental in establishing both organizations and served on the governing board for many years...

Mountain Ranch, CA...The annual “Day in the Park” celebration will be held on Saturday August 25, 2012. This 33rd annual event is free, and a family day of fun, with entertainment and games. Located on Mountain Ranch Road and Whiskey Slide Rd. in Mountain Ranch. Free Parking. Festivities begin at 12 noon with music by various groups that will carry on all day. Antique and restored cars, trucks, motorcycles or any other vehicles will be on display starting at 12 noon. Open to all. Bring your own restored vehicle with you after: 7:00 AM, no pre-registering, just a $10.00 donation. Vehicles must be on the ball field by 11:00 AM...

Mountain Ranch, CA...A native of Oakland, CA. Clyde grew up in Fremont, CA He served in the US Army during WWII and had worked for Westinghouse in Sunnyvale for 30 yrs. He moved with his Family to Mountain Ranch in 1981 and has lived there sine then. He was a Founding member of the Kennel Club of the Sierra and Free and Accepted Mason of the Masonic Lodge in Sunnyvale. Clyde was a life member of the Mfg Engineers Union. He had raised and showed Bull Dogs for many years....

Local Bead Artist Wins Top Honors at State Fair!

Mountain Ranch, CA...Local bead artist Sue Horine has won top honors in the Bead Art Division at the California State Fair. The hand beaded piece titled "The Guardian" won both the Beadwoven Art Class and went on to win the Best of the Bead Art Division. Her award winning beadwork has appeared in internationally distributed magazines and catalogs, most recently appearing in a full page advertisement in the May 2012 issue of "Rock and Gem" magazine.

Calaveras County, CA...Update 4/28/11: Michael has received some very generous donations from our viewers! The family is so thankful! "I am so excited for him, what a wonderful opportunity he has before him and with his drive to do the best he can, hopefully he will place during the state competition. He is going to go back to the IGA in Copperopolis again tomorrow with his project to answer questions and share what he has discovered. Hopefully by the end of the day he will have reached his goal , he has a baseball game on Saturday morning" States Michael's Grandmother, Cindi Bent.....Local 8th grader, Michael Legge is headed to the State Science Fair! Michael won 1st place at the Calaveras County Science Fair in his division with his project "Mysterious Bacteria vs. Evil Tobacco." Michael is a student at Mark Twain Elementary and needs our help! Here is a letter from Michael: "Hello my name is Michael Legge and I am an 8th grade student at Mark Twain Elementary School. Mark Twain doesn't require students to do science fair projects but I went out and did one on my own. .....

Mountain Ranch, CA... The Marines are arriving in force at Mountain Ranch to honor one of their own. The life of Jerry Yates, a Marine Vietnam veteran, founder of the Central Valley Chapter of the Marine Corps Motorcycle Club, and valued member of the Mountain Ranch community, will be honored tomorrow (Sunday) at 3:00 pm at the Mountain Ranch Cemetery, with full military honors, taps, and a 21-gun salute. Fellow marines and members of the CV Chapter of the MC Motorcycle Club, as well as those from other parts of the state and the nation, started arriving in Mountain Ranch early Saturday morning....
