Lows 52 to 67 higher elevations...62 to 73 lower elevations. Prevailing west winds up to 10 mph in the evening becoming light.

Temperatures are expected to peak on Saturday, with a near record high of 105 forecast for Sacramento (record 106, 1988).

Arnold, CA...Late Season Snow....A cold weather system will bring periods of snow above 8000 feet Friday into Saturday. Snow expected. Total accumulations of 1 to 3 inches expected, higher amounts up to 5 inches possible on the highest peaks. WHERE...West Slope Northern Sierra Nevada south of Highway 50 and above 8000 feet. This includes Carson Pass, Ebbetts Pass and Sonora Pass.

At lower elevations, scattered rain showers in the morning, then scattered rain showers and isolated thunderstorms in the afternoon. At higher elevations, scattered rain and snow showers in the morning, then scattered rain showers, snow showers and isolated thunderstorms in the afternoon. Not as cool. Highs 41 to 56 higher elevations...57 to 65 lower elevations. Snow level 6000 feet increasing to 7000 feet in the afternoon. Prevailing northeast winds 5 to 15 mph. Tonight Mostly cloudy in the evening then becoming mostly clear. At lower elevations, scattered rain showers and isolated thunderstorms in the evening. At higher elevations, isolated rain showers, thunderstorms and snow showers in the evening. Lows 27 to 42 higher elevations...40 to 48 lower elevations. Snow level 7500 feet. Prevailing north winds up to 10 mph shifting to the northeast after midnight.

Arnold, CA....From the National Weather Service Sacramento....Wet Weather Returns to Northern California Later this Week. A surge of sub-tropical moisture from Hawaii will bring a return of wet weather to northern California beginning Thursday and continuing into the weekend. Periods of heavy rain, and strong gusty south winds, are possible Friday night and Saturday. Rain should decrease on Sunday.

Arnold, CA...Significant low elevation snow into the weekend. A cold system with low snow levels and heavy snow will drop south over the region into the weekend. The heaviest snow will be this afternoon through tonight, and again Saturday night. Significant travel delays are expected.

Arnold, CA...The next winter storm will bring periods of heavy snow and strong wind to the mountains of interior Northern California. Heaviest snow is expected Thursday afternoon through Friday afternoon, with periods of whiteout conditions likely. An additional 1 to 4 feet of snow accumulation is possible above 3000 feet with 3 to 5 feet at pass levels through Friday night. Snow levels will remain around 2000 to 3000 feet across the northern mountains, and 3000 to 4000 feet across the west slopes of the Northern Sierra.

Heavy Snow Later This Week...As a "Miracle March" Begins? |

Arnold, CA....A series of cold winter storms will bring periods of heavy snow and gusty winds to the foothills and mountains of interior NorCal later this week. Snow may begin as early as Wednesday afternoon and continue through the weekend. Several feet of snowfall accumulation is expected in the mountains with up to a foot possible across some foothill locations. Portions of the northern Sacramento Valley, including Redding, may see accumulating snow Thursday night and Friday. Any planning travel across the foothills or mountains later this week should stay in touch with the latest forecasts.
