Ebbets Pass, CA January 8, 2011...7 year old Isidore (Izzy) and 5 year old Elizabeth (Ellie) Works took the family out for a day of winter madness, snow, and icy fun. Temperatures today never got much above freezing at higher altitudes, but frozen was the plan as a snow day took hold of the kids, the dog, and dear old dad. The sun was out however, and it was a great day to spend outside and enjoy all the new snowdrifts. Izzy and Ellie decided we were going to family standby snow venue; Spicer Sno Park.....

Hey Good People! The weekend looks to be clear with mostly sunny sky’s and the highs moving into the mid 40′s, lows in the mid 20′s to 30′s. What a beautiful week following a nice series of storms. A possible wet system is moving in Tuesday with snow levels around 8000′ stay tuned for more on that as the weekend progresses. December had the most precipitaion on record since 1970. Remember to use sunscreen! The Avalanche advisory is 1Low, check the forecast at sierraavalanchecenter.org for more on that and ride safe and responsible!!! Peace Out, Mattly

Bear Valley, CA.....MAS recently opened an exciting and convenient office location at the Bear Valley Mountain Resort. Located next to the cafeteria in the main lodge, Bear Valley guests can now rent telemark and randonnee skis, skins, beacons, probes, shovels. snowshoes and more. Come by and say "hi" and welcome Saskia as our newest member of the MAS team.

The Avery Middle School Jazz Band will be hosting an exciting event at Bear Valley Cross Country Center on February 6, 2011 at 10:00 am. The event is being sponsored by the Vallecito Music Boosters and will raise funds for the Jazz Bands Spring Tour This is a snowshoe event including a one mile fun run/walk for kids, a 5k run/walk for kids and adults, and a 10k race for the brave souls. There will be hats and fuzzy ear warmers for all and prizes for the top three competitors. Many raffle prizes from local businesses will be included at the awards ceremony. Bear Valley, CA...."The Zones" are holding excellent powder and we are planning two Zones Adventures this coming weekend, January 8 & 9, 2011. This exciting program is intended for strong advanced and expert skiers seeking the "steep and deep". Participants can expect two or three 1000 foot vertical runs of untracked powder. Bear Valley, CA....Young ski racers from ages 8-12 will descend upon Bear Valley Mountain Resort this weekend for the Annual Slalom Rasmussen Cup! Teams will include Dodge Ridge, Sierra Summit, Badger Pass and Bear Valley. This Slalom race will take place on Nastar. Go Teams!

Bear Valley, CA....Hey Good People! The week looks to be clear with mostly sunny sky’s and the highs in the mid 30′s, lows in the mid teens. Cold temps will keep the untracked snow in good condition on the north face slopes. For awesome groomed riding ,check out the Grouse connection/Bear Boogie areas and have a great time. If you haven’t checked out the Village side terrain, you need to!!!
