Bear Valley, CA...Due to heavy snowfall and High Avalanche Danger, Bear Valley LIFT OPERATIONS WILL BE SUSPENDED today, 2/7/17. We will update conditions this afternoon. Keep an eye out for Mattly’s weather report - at a minimum delays are likely through Thursday. Forecast is calling for a return of cold temps late Thursday. Will keep you posted.

Bear Valley, CA...Unfortunately the intense rain, slush and snow has created very unsafe conditions on the slopes and the roads. For the safety of all that might be thinking about traveling to our special part of the Sierra, we encourage you to stay home safe at this time. We WILL NOT OPERATE LIFTS on Wednesday, February 8th. We will evaluate conditions and weather Wednesday afternoon and post our plans for Thursday, February 9th as soon as determined. The village restaurants are open and ready to serve a hot meal if you are in town. Thanks for your patience as we ride out Mother Nature. What a season!!

Bear Valley, CA...Hey Good People! 1" overnight for a total of 12" for the current system in the last 48hrs. Todays high will be around 36F with SSW winds from 14-26mph. Less than 1" of snow is expected to fall today. Sunday into Monday we could pick up another 9-15" depending on timing and then the warm front arrives on Tuesday and snow levels could rise up to Pass levels. Hey Good People! Good morning and well.............here it comes! Snowfall starts this morning with an expected 3-5" today. The high will come in around 38F today with South winds from 15-23mph. Tonight we could pick up another 3-5", 6-10" during the day Friday and another 2-4" Friday night and into Saturday morning before a lull appears then back at it again starting late Sunday night and on into the coming week. The latter system has a much warmer front to it so we could see snowfall elevations up to pass levels during the Tuesday event. Arnold, CA...A new storm system will roll through the next few days. Along the West Slope Northern Sierra Nevada it should feel like a cake walk after the last systems. At higher elevations it should put a fresh coat of white on everything for the upcoming weekend. Today Partly cloudy in the morning then becoming mostly cloudy. Highs 37 to 51 higher elevations...48 to 58 lower elevations. Prevailing southeast winds 5 to 15 mph. Tonight Mostly cloudy. At lower elevations, a slight chance of rain in the evening, then a chance of rain and snow after midnight. At higher elevations, a slight chance of rain and snow in the evening, then a chance of rain and snow after midnight. Lows 22 to 37 higher elevations...34 to 40 lower elevations. No snow accumulation lower elevations...up to 2 inches higher elevations. Snow level 5500 feet. Prevailing southeast winds 5 to 15 mph with gusts to around 35 mph...except south 15 to 30 mph over ridges.

Rasmussen Classic Hosts Central Sierra’s Top Junior Racers For Slalom & Giant Slalom

Bear Valley, CA...The first Central Sierra Series race of the season was held under bright sunny skies, after being postponed twice due to heavy snowfall. Racers ages seven to sixteen showed off their speed skills, racing slalom Saturday and giant slalom on Sunday. Participating teams included; Bear Valley, Dodge Ridge, China Peak and Yosemite. Racers from Bear Valley shined on the top of the podium both days, taking first place in four of the seven age categories in both disciplines.

Bear valley, CA...Hey Good People! It's Saturday and It looks to be an awesome weekend with Sunny Skies and ENE winds from 6-8mph. Continued warming and Sunshine is on tap for Sunday also so let's get riding! We got the Grizz Chair turning Thursday and we will do some Avalanche Control again this morning due to winds and the opening of the Grizz bowl looks to be sometime around 10 or 11am depending on how the control work goes. The Rassmussen Classic is this Sat/Sun so check that out also. A return of snow is in the forecast for the coming mid week so be sure to check back and and see how that progresses.Come on up and experience our local "Pure Mtn Fun" ethos and stay tuned..........

Bear Valley, CA...1/28/17 (7:30am) - We have 30 groomed trails (including Equipe, Headwaters and the Ridge) open, plus sledding and tubing and the Meadow Café! The sun is out and the weather should be clear with perfect XC ski conditions through the weekend. We hope you will make it up for the best skiing of the season!
