Hey Good People! Pooh Chair Comes Online Today at Bear Valley Opening Runs on the Backside!! ~ Mattly Trent

Posted by: thepinetree on 02/02/2018 09:12 AM
Bear Valley, CA...Hey Good People! We all know the high pressure ridging is in place for awhile so today the high could reach the upper 50’s with a NNE wind from 5-7mph. Continued beautiful sunny weather will be here through next week. What I want to talk about is the fact that we’re opening more terrain today! Pooh Chair is coming online approximately 11am this morning with Grouse Connection groomed to perfection and some off-piste riding on Satisfaction, Upper Bear Boogie and Goldilocks. Thin snow cover in the off-piste is around yet the quality of the groom on Grouse is simply some of the best we could see. The Snow makers and Groomers have done some incredible work to bring this online even though California is not seeing much snowfall so far this season. We’re also moving the summit park to it’s final destination on Rodeo so look for that to come online by Saturday.

Hey Good People! A Stellar Day of "Pure Mtn Fun" at Bear Valley Awaits ~ Mattly Trent

Posted by: thepinetree on 02/01/2018 12:18 PM
Bear Valley, CA...Hey Good People!. A beautiful day is on tap for the Central Sierra with a high of 52F and light and variable winds. Ol’ man high pressure is continuing his dominance out in the Eastern Pacific as the MJO continues to help drive clear weather and a slight warming trend. Sunny and dry weather will be on tap through the weekend. What’s this mean for us…..well, great groomers and some really good bump skiing is to be had. Despite the high pressure ridging we have fantastic conditions for skiing and riding so it’s a great time to bring the family or friends up for quality skiing/riding or just taking a lesson. With the whole front of the upper Mtn. now available there is a variety of terrain for all to enjoy. Remember, we’re about “Pure Mtn Fun” so come check us out this Winter !!!!! stay tuned....

California State Parks Begins Study of Fallen, Iconic ‘Tunnel Tree’ in Calaveras Big Trees State Park

Posted by: thepinetree on 01/31/2018 01:34 PM
Arnold, CA...Marking one year since the famous Pioneer Cabin Tunnel Tree toppled, California State Parks, Save the Redwoods League and Humboldt State University today announced plans to use the fallen sequoia to study the tree’s life history and gather historic climate-related information for the surrounding area. The information will help California State Parks better manage the existing groves of redwood trees. The giant sequoia is the largest tree species in the world, with some trees reaching a diameter of 36 feet.

Bear Valley, CA...Hey Good People!..A beautiful weekend is ahead with copious amounts of sunshine and smiles to be had. A high today of 42F is expected as the high pressure has returned and light SE winds will prevail today so don’t forget the sunscreen. The next 6 days look to be sunny with slightly above normal temps but there is something on the horizon for next Saturday. The MJO is helping to keep things a bit dry but hey, it is what it is. What we do have is great conditions out on the hill as we opened the whole front side bowl yesterday with the Koala chair being able to come online for the first time this season. It’s a great time to bring the family or friends up for quality skiing/riding or just taking a lesson.
