Bear Valley, CA...February 10th 2014. Hey Good People! Another 2″ has fallen overnight to bring our storm total to 52″!!!!!!!!! Today we will see a 50 percent chance of snow showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 42. South wind 5 to 10 mph becoming light and variable in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 24 mph. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible. Stay tuned………..Peace Out, Mattly

The mission of Public, Education, and Government (PEG) Access Television in Calaveras County is to provide the people in the County with fair and reasonable access to cable television channel(s). The goals for PEG Access Television are to promote free speech, foster diverse points of view, encourage communications, create opportunities, encourage artistic expression, expand educational access, and promote participatory democracy in order to strengthen the spirit of the communities and enrich the lives of our residents and visitors...

Angels Camp, CA...Christina Marie Effken, August 29, 1956 to January 25, 2014. Born in Liverpool England moved to Claifornia at an early age. Graduated from Washington High School in Fremont, Ca. In her early twenties Christina worked for the California Conservation Corps where she met and later married Robert Cox, to become the mother of Sean and Elliott Cox. Christina was a long time employee of Bear Valley mountain resort where she befriended many people of the area. Christina always enjoyed the outdoors and was a self proclaimed “Amateur Geologist”. She was always willing to lend a helping hand and always tried to keep a positive attitude about life...

San Andreas, CA...Calaveras Public Health Services has received confirmation of two influenza-related deaths of Calaveras County residents this flu season. “The residents were both under 65 years of age and were reported to the Department today,” stated Dr. Dean Kelaita, County Health Officer. “Both residents had been hospitalized out of county.” “One of the deaths was confirmed as the H1N1 flu strain,” continued Dr. Kelaita...

Bear Valley, CA....Today: Rain at lower elevations...and rain and snow at higher elevations. Highs 33 to 45 higher elevations...42 to 50 lower elevations. Snow accumulation 2 to 4 inches higher elevations. Snow level 7000 to 7500 feet. Prevailing south winds 5 to 15 mph with gusts to around 30 mph...except southwest 15 to 30 mph over ridges. Tonight: At lower elevations...rain in the evening...then rain showers after midnight. At higher elevations...rain and snow in the evening...then rain and snow showers after midnight. Lows 26 to 41 higher elevations...38 to 47 lower elevations. Snow accumulation up to 2 inches higher elevations. Snow level 7000 feet. Prevailing south winds up to 15 mph. Monday: Mostly cloudy. At lower elevations...a chance of rain showers in the morning...then a slight chance of rain showers in the afternoon. At higher elevations...a chance of rain and snow showers. Not as cool. Highs 36 to 51 higher elevations...48 to 56 lower elevations. Snow level 6500 feet. Prevailing southwest winds up to 10 mph shifting to the west in the afternoon....

Bear Valley, CA...Bear Valley's Mattly Trent talks about the lots and lots of snow mother nature is finally bringing to the Sierra. Hey Good People! 13″ of new snow fell overnight for a total of 32″ so far for this storm system. Rain and snow. High near 38. South southwest wind around 14 mph, with gusts as high as 22 mph. New Snow and More Trails Opening Daily At Bear Valley Cross Country

Bear Valley, CA....We are open with groomed trails for cross country skiing and snowshoeing, sledding and tubing, and fat biking too. The snow is piling up! While all of California could definitely use more snow, Bear Valley sits at 7,100 feet and receives more snow during storms than most other areas. We were able to offer groomed trails throughout the earlier season, while other areas were closed. Now that we are getting new snow, we are opening more trails as fast as possible.

8th Annual Jazztrax Snowshoe Stomp is Feb. 22

Bear Valley, CA...8th Annual Jazztrax Snowshoe Stomp to be held at Bear Valley Cross Country on Saturday, February 22nd. This event is a family friendly run/walk on snowshoes. The fun begins at 10:00 am, with registration opening at 8:30 am. There are 3 events taking place: 1 mile fun run for kids 9 & under, 5k and 10k. Snowshoes can be provided for those who need them, thanks to Hazel Fisher School. Music provided by a great junior high jazz ensemble directed by Patty Jo Struve following the race at the SKY HIGH PIZZA in Bear Valley during an epic awards ceremony. Great food, great music, great fun! Come on out and enjoy a beautiful day at amazing Bear Valley Cross Country.
