Bear Valley, CA..The 10th Annual Wintersports History Night is Decemeber 14 at the Bear Valley Lodge, Cathedral Lounge. The honoree this year is Harry Schimke who for many in the area needs no introduction and without Harry and the entire Schimke Family our area would not be the same. The Ebbetts Pass Historical Association was established in the summer of 2003, by a handful of Bear Valley residents, following many discussions of earnest that we should start something to preserve history of our area and make it available to the public. Our goal at the beginning was not only to capture memories of the High Sierra -Hwy 4, but also to gather and preserve the history along the Hwy 4 corridor from Arnold up to the summit...

Hundreds Pay Tribute To Our Veterans in Murphys...Updated with Video |
Posted by: thepinetree on 11/13/2013 03:25 PM

Murphys, CA...In honor of Veteran's Day, the Ebbetts Pass Veteran's Memorial District held a very nice ceremony paying tribute and honoring all United States military veterans. It was held at the beautiful creekside monument which is located on Algiers Street across from the Murphys Park. The Calaveras Community Band and Bret Harte High School senior, Brice Gilpin singing the Star Spangled Banner provided the musical accompaniment.
