Bear Valley, CA...Hey Good People! 10" of new snow overnight as of 5am and 13" in the last 24hrs!!!!!!! We look to pick up another 3-7" today and the winds will be out of the Southwest from 18-20mph with gusts to 30mph. Snow showery weather will stick around until late Friday evening and give way to clearing for Saturday. Possible delays today on the lwr Mtn for avalanche control and high winds as well as the backside as there was some rimming last night. Come on up and Enjoy the easiest drive to any resort on the west slope, all weather Highway 4, always open, easy and fun! Don't forget about our "Pure Mtn Fun" attitude because it's local, real and a whole lotta PMF!
Strawberry's Cashman 15th In Youth Olympic Games Giant Slalom

HAFJELL, Norway (Feb. 16, 2016) – Keely Cashman (Squaw Valley, CA, 16, National Training Group/Squaw Valley Ski Team) grabbed 15th place Tuesday in the giant slalom at the Youth Olympic Winter Games. The giant slalom podium featured Switzerland’s Melanie Meillard finishing first, with Germany’s Katrin Hirtl-Stanggassinger finishing second and Switzerland’s Aline Danioth rounding out the podium in third. “Snow was bullet proof and it was an excellent race,” said women’s NTG head coach Thomas Erhard. “Great learning experience for her at a major Championship.”

Bear Valley, CA...Mostly cloudy today at lower elevations...a chance of rain. At higher elevations...a slight chance of rain in the morning... Then rain and snow likely in the afternoon. Windy. Highs 44 to 59 higher elevations...51 to 65 lower elevations. No snow accumulation lower elevations...up to 1 inch higher elevations. Snow level above 8000 feet decreasing to 7000 feet in the afternoon. Prevailing south winds 10 to 20 mph increasing to 15 to 30 mph in the afternoon. Gusts up to 50 mph. Over ridges... Prevailing southwest winds 25 to 35 mph shifting to the south 25 to 45 mph in the afternoon...

Bear Valley, CA...It is with great sadness, the Bear Valley Fire Department and Bear Valley Search and Rescue announce the passing of one of their members; Dave Edney. On February 13th, shortly after completing one of his notorious workouts, Dave collapsed, and in spite of the efforts of the responding medical personnel, Dave passed away. The exact cause in still unknown. Dave will be remembered for his unequalled work ethic, his unbelievably positive attitude, no matter what the circumstances, and his willingness to do anything to help a friend. Dave was an extreme endurance athlete, who completely embodied the Bear Valley lifestyle in his love of the Great Outdoors.

Bear Valley, CA...Hey Good People! A calm clear morning is at hand and will give way to a day filled with sunshine, temps around 63F and winds out of the ENE from 5-11mph. Tuesday looks to be a repeat before the next storm system moves over NorCal. Wednesday looks to be ramping up as far as snow totals and at the current time we could pick up 1-2' by Friday a.m. Come on up and Enjoy the easiest drive to any resort on the west slope, all weather Highway 4, always open, easy and fun!
