Tell the USFS why and how you enjoy the Alpine and Spicer SnoParks and Trail Systems

Posted by: thepinetree on 09/18/2012 10:37 AM
Bear Valley, CA...Our local USFS office for Stanislaus Forest is asking for your personal comments on how our local Alpine and Spicer SnoParks and trails are enjoyed by you, your family and/or your business - see the attached formal request for comment. This is the public's opportunity to document how much we enjoy and use the groomed trails of Alpine and Spicer SnoParks. It has been a number of years since the USFS is looking for formal feedback so please do not let this chance go by....

Pink Lights In The Night Will Shine In Calaveras County for Breast Cancer Awarenes

Posted by: John_Hamilton on 09/11/2012 05:10 PM
San Andreas, CA... Mark Twain St. Joseph‟s Hospital (MTSJH) is once again promoting Pink in The Night in honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Mark Twain St. Joseph‟s Hospital will be promoting the importance of the fact that early detection of breast cancer, followed by prompt treatment, saves lives. The entire community is invited to participate in "Pink in the Night‟ opening ceremony October 1st, in Valley Springs at the Terrace‟s (Common Grounds) at 6:00pm. All survivors and participants will be able to light a candle in tribute to those that are currently battling breast cancer, or in remembrance of those that bravely lost their battle, and ones that have survived the disease. “This is the fifth year that the Mark Twain Health Care District has funded the Pink Lights,” commented Mark Twain District Board Member Dr. Peter Oliver. “On behalf of the board, we are thankful to be able to promote this community wide breast cancer awareness event.”

Avery Hawk Headlines and Welcome Back Avery Hawks! ~By Christine Cearley

Posted by: John_Hamilton on 09/11/2012 05:48 PM
Avery, CA...Welcome back Avery Hawks! I am excited to report that we have started out this year with virtually no discipline issues! The 7th and 8th grade classes and I talked at the beginning of the year and agreed that if we can keep discipline down to a minimum, we will add an additional fun activity for all students i.e., dance, water day, etc. I hope we can achieve this goal! The 6th, 7th and 8th grade students this year are well behaved, funny, caring, and smart! All three grade levels have iPads. Both 7th and 8th graders are taking iPads home this year. We are working on opening a video studio as well as a music studio. Avery has been invited to apply, for a third year in a row, to be an Apple Distinguished School....

“Fix my Ride flow” Consumer Petition Launched Asking Progressive To Fix Damaged Vehicle

Posted by: thepinetree on 09/10/2012 09:49 AM
Arnold, CA- A petition is being launched today calling on Progressive Insurance Company’s iconic (and some would say irritating) fictional spokes-character, Flo, to step up and fix a vehicle damaged by a Progressive Insurance Company policyholder. The accident occurred on February 13, 2012 in the parking lot of the Bear Valley Ski Area. An under-aged driver, who was insured as per state law requirements, lost control of her vehicle and slammed into eight parked cars. The under-aged drive remained on the scene, notified authorities and provided her insurance information to the owners of the vehicles that were damaged during the accident....

Bear Valley Operation Plans Due to USFS By October 15th.

Posted by: thepinetree on 09/07/2012 03:45 PM
Avery, CA...We just spoke with Patty Cleary of the USFS to hopefully get a few more details on the Bear Valley situation. Bear Valley Mountain needs to submit their operation plan to the USFS for review by October 15th. Their agreement stipulates that they need to operate for 120 days per year which they did last season. So the ownership group has over a month before they need to have plans to the USFS. More to follow...

Bear Valley Update....Nothing Yet

Posted by: thepinetree on 09/06/2012 02:33 PM
Bear Valley, CA...The tea leaves are still being read and divinations made but there is still not a firm answer from Bear Valley on the upcoming season. Most people in positions to know still think they will be under operation when it matters. This we do know is that the partners are talking and an agreeable solution is being worked on. Without going down the rumor path too far it should be realistic to expect a decision close to September 15th....
