Driver Falls Asleep at Wheel Causing Vehicle and Small Vegetation Fire

Twain Harte, CA....A driver fell asleep at the wheel yesterday afternoon at Hwy 108 and Mile Marker 50 on Twain Harte Grade, causing his vehicle to go off of roadway and start the vehicle on fire. An 1/8 acre vegetation fire also occurred. Estimated damages are $20,000 for the vehicle. No injuries. Multiple crews responded to the incident. Fire report is enclosed...

$650,000 in Damages Occur in Sonora Structure Fire

Sonora, CA....A structure fire occurred on May 9th at the 18000 Block of Vista Drive in Mill Villa Manor in Sonora. Red Cross was notified for one displaced adult female. Major fire damage to the 2000 square foot structure occurred with an estimated $650,000.00 in damages for structure and contents. Cause is under investigation. Multiple crews responded to the incident. CAL Fire report enclosed....

Confidence, CA..An unattended debris burn pile was the cause of a 1 acre fire at the 20000 Block of Mt. Provo Road in Confidence on May 6th. Multiple crews responded. Woodland and vegetation were burned causing $300 in damages. CAL Fire report enclosed...

Burn Permits Required May 1, 2011

San Andreas, CA....On Sunday, May 1, 2011, at 8AM, the Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit of the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) will require burning permits within State Responsibility Areas of Tuolumne County, Calaveras County, Eastern Stanislaus County and Eastern San Joaquin County. Since May 1st falls on a Sunday Unit Chief Mike Noonan has extended the expiration on existing burn permits to June 1, 2011 for those permits which would have expired at the end of April 2011.....

Local 8th Grader Headed to State Science Fair.....Still A Little Short of His Goal

Calaveras County, CA...Update 4/28/11: Michael has received some very generous donations from our viewers! The family is so thankful! "I am so excited for him, what a wonderful opportunity he has before him and with his drive to do the best he can, hopefully he will place during the state competition. He is going to go back to the IGA in Copperopolis again tomorrow with his project to answer questions and share what he has discovered. Hopefully by the end of the day he will have reached his goal , he has a baseball game on Saturday morning" States Michael's Grandmother, Cindi Bent.....Local 8th grader, Michael Legge is headed to the State Science Fair! Michael won 1st place at the Calaveras County Science Fair in his division with his project "Mysterious Bacteria vs. Evil Tobacco." Michael is a student at Mark Twain Elementary and needs our help! Here is a letter from Michael: "Hello my name is Michael Legge and I am an 8th grade student at Mark Twain Elementary School. Mark Twain doesn't require students to do science fair projects but I went out and did one on my own. .....

Fire Destroys Mobile Home and Explosion in Dorrington

Sonora, CA....A fire occurred at 18200 block of Kelly Ranch Road in Sonora on Thursday evening. A single wide trailer was fully involved. There were no injuries. Cause is under investigation. Red Cross and PG&E were notified. Full CAL Fire release enclosed. There was also an explosion but no fire reported at 3:22am this morning at a residence on the 3400 block of Hwy 4 in the Dorrington Area. CAL-Fire's Lisa Williams said the incident was closed just after 7am this morning. The Calaveras Sheriff's Department is investigating this one as well and we will provide additional details as they come in..

Snow Helps Put Vehicle Fire Out

Sonora, CA....A vehicle fire occurred on Friday at Hwy 108 at Tulloch Road. Damages consist of $1,000. Apparently the Jeep Cherokee caught on fire while traveling on Hwy 108. The driver stopped the vehicle and used snow to put the fire out. Full CAL Fire report is enclosed....

Standard Stucture Fire Estimated Damages $150,000

Standard, CA...A structure fire occurred at the 15100 Block of Cavalieri Road in Standard on Thursday afternoon. CAL Fire states equipment use was the cause. Combustibles were placed close to a wood stove. No injuries occurred. $150,000 in damages are being reported to structure and contents. PG&E and Red Cross were both notified. CAL Fire report enclosed.....

Tuolumne City, CA....A structure fire occurred on March 6th at the 18500 block of Hershey Road in Tuolumne City. FIRST AND SECOND FLOOR. FIRE PERSONNEL WERE ABLE TO STOP THE FIRE IN THE ROOM OF ORIGIN. BECAUSE OF A PROPERLY WORKING SMOKE DETECTOR THE HOMEOWNER, CHILDREN AND PETS WERE ABLE TO EXIT THE STRUCTURE WITHOUT INJURY. ESTIMATED DOLLAR DAMAGE TO THE STRUCTURE IS REPORTED AT $50,000. No Injuries reported. Full CAL Fire report enclosed.....
