Haigh Fire Incident Update, 130 Acres, 10% Contained, 275 Personnel, 22 Engines, 12 Crews, 4 Airtankers, 4 Helos, 6 Dozers. A Marijuanna Grow Or Grows in Fire Area

Posted by: thepinetree on 06/10/2014 10:09 PM
Coulterville, CA...The Haigh Fire is burning on Hwy 49 and Haigh Road north of Coulterville. Calfire MMU's Karen Guillemin-Kanawyer confirmed that marijuana grows were in the area but it is still unconfirmed if the origin of the fire was near a grow pending investigation. The fire is burning in heavy brush. Extreme temperatures and dry conditions allowed the fire to burn very actively. The fire fighters and fire crews will be the front line overnight and tomorrow morning Air Attack, Tankers and Helicopters will be back dumping water and retardant on this fire in their attempt to keep the growth in check....

We would like to thank our fire coverage sponsors for their support during what will no doubt be a very busy fire season.

The Tuolumne Calaveras Unit Kicks Off The 2014 Fire Season Today

Posted by: thepinetree on 05/12/2014 04:37 PM
San Andreas, CA....As of today, May 12th, The Tuolumne Calaveras Unit or TCU is ready to roll. The Columbia Air Attack Base is fully staffed with Helicopter 404 and the contract on Air Tankers typically 81 & 82 starts today. The actual pieces of equipment can change but our area typically will have one helicopter and two tankers assigned for the duration of the season. The stations are fully staffed and the 2014 Fire Season is officially underway. It marks an early start and with the extremely dry conditions it would behoove all of us to be extra, extra, extra careful this year. Just think, last year all it took was one escaped campfire in August and now from Sonora to Yosemite is several shades darker and without trees that will take decades if ever to return to their previous state....
