CAL Fire States Structure Fire in Columbia Cause Electrical Power

Columbia, CA....The structure fire that occurred yesterday at 10785 Valparaiso Street in Columbia was caused by electrical power according to CAL Fire. A structure was fully engulfed along with a vehicle and 1/2 acre of grass vegetation. Luckily there were no injuries. There is a total of $350,000 in damages for the home and contents; $25,000 to vehicle and $100 to vegetation. Multiple area units responded to the fire including COLUMBIA AIR ATTACK 230, COPTER 404, HELITENDER 404, TANKER 82, 88 GROVELAND: BATTALION CHIEF 4416, MURPHYS: ENGINE 4452, COPPEROPOLIS: ENGINE 4462, GREEN SPRINGS: ENGINE 4468, STANDARD: ENGINE 4470, FORESTER 4407, PREVENTION 4421, ARNOLD: ENGINE 4474, ALTAVILLE: ENGINE 4483, TWAIN HARTE: ENGINE 4485, MONO VILLAGE: ENGINE 511, BASELINE: HAND CREW 3 SIERRA TRAINING CENTER: TRAINING 4425, COLUMBIA COLLEGE FD: BREATHING SUPPORT 795, ENGINE 792, COLUMBIA FPD: CHIEF 740, ENGINE 743, SONORA FPD: ENGINE 752, TUOLUMNE COUNTY: PREVENTION 702, SUPPORT 907, MONO VISTA: WATER TENDER 569 JAMESTOWN FD: WATER TENDER 768. Small Spot Fire in Don Pedro Caused by Homeowner Cutting Metal with and Electric Chop Saw

Tuolumne County, CA.....CAL Fire states a homeowner cutting metal with an electrical chop saw caused a spot of grass vegetation to burn on August 9th. The fire occurred at 14430 Potrero Way in Don Pedro. There were no injuries. CAL Fire report is enclosed.....

Mt. Knight, CA...The Knight Fire's management successfully transitioned to a Type 3 team yesterday. With markedly lower overnight temperatures and humidity, fire activity has decreased with pockets in the fire's interior still burning. Firefighters continue to mop-up its perimeter, increasing control of the fire by putting out burning and smoldering portions around the exterior line, as well as pockets of active fire within its interior. Post-fire rehabilitation is a major focus at this stage....

Knight Fire at 6,130 acres and 60% Contained, Demobilization Starts Today

Mt. Knight, CA...Firefighters have gained the upper hand in the Knight Fire arena, aggressively suppressing the fire as burn-out operations along containment lines were very successful yesterday. With the help of cool temperatures and higher humidity levels, all containment lines held firm overnight. Mt. Knight, CA...Today firefighters continue to battle the Knight Fire burning on the Stanislaus National Forest in the Middle Fork Stanislaus River Canyon. The Knight Fire remains active at night; however, firefighters have been able to gain 10% containment. The Knight fire is burning in inaccessible terrain in timber and brush. Steep and rocky terrain continues to impact the accessibility of the area as firefighters continue to battle extreme fire behavior and rough working conditions....

Current Knight Fire Update as of 9:30pm This Evening

Mt. Knight....... Mt. Knight Fire Update as of 9:30pm this evening. We just spoke with Dwayne Lyon of the Stanislaus National Forest Fire Information Center. This is what he stated "Fire remains at 1643 acres with 10% containment. Crews have completed an East flank of the boundary with bulldozers and have laid hose in order to use water to further the events of stopping the fire. The Western side is still awaiting completion. They are going to start a burn out at the narrow bend of blackened underbrush to create a black zone that will deny any fuel to any fire coming up the slope....

The night shot above is of the Columbia Air Attack Base Tonight just before dark with all the aircraft tucked in for the night. Not pictured are the helicopter airtankers resting in the main portion of the Columbia airport. There are 15 Helicopters and 6 Airtankers, almost 1,100 firefighters, 42 Engines, 12 Dozers, 12 Water Tenders and much more fighting this 1,650 acre fire...

Lake Alpine has been tough due to hot weather and the NCPA dropping the lake for repair on the dam. Bait casters should try Gulp Power Eggs, Gulp Power Bait, Floating Power Eggs, Gulp Nightcrawlers, inflated nightcrawlers, and salmon eggs on a 24" to 30" leader using a sliding sinker. Lure casters should try Kastmasters, Panther Martin spinners, and Rooster Tails. Trollers should try Apex, Needlefish, Glo Bugs, Triple Teazers, and Wedding Rings behind a small dodger tipped either with a nightcrawler or a Gulp.....

We just spoke with Jerry Snyder of SNF Command center to get our daily update on the Knight Fire. He informed us that he has not received an update since this morning and this is the current information he has available. "The Knight Fire has grown to as of 600+ acres this morning. 592 people are fighting the fire and they have16 aircraft on scene." This was the last update he received. As soon as he has more information, he will pass it on. Additional information enclosed.....
