San Andreas, CA...Healthy aging is more than just physical health. It’s emotional, financial, and educational. Hosted by John Krutsinger of Edward Jones in Murphys, the event partners with three community non-profits; Hospice of Amador & Calaveras, Mark Twain Medical Center Foundation (MTMCF), and Mind Matters. Ageless – A Prescription for Healthy Aging by Robert Pokorski, MD will be held on Tuesday, April 3rd, 12 noon at MTMCF, 768 Mountain Ranch Road, San Andreas. Murphys, CA...Born in Hawaii, raised in a military family, and lived throughout the United States, Merita is committed to Calaveras County as home. She has lived in District 3 for 30 years, and is a member of local organizations from White Pines Park to Murphys Community Club. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science and Secondary Teaching Credential from the University of San Francisco. Her daughter, Brianna, is a graduate of Avery Middle School and Bret Harte High School.

Murphys, CA...The IRS has released a new version of Form W-4 and a revised Withholding Calculator on irs.gov (IR-2018-36). These updated tools can help you check your 2018 tax withholding to determine if it's still appropriate following passage of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act in December 2017. The IRS urges taxpayers to use these tools to make sure they have the right amount of tax withheld from their paychecks, taking into account significant changes to the tax law for 2018.

Now “Driving Miss Daisy” brings its considerable charms to Murphys Creek Theatre, running Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays April 27 through May 20.
Called “a total delight” by the New York Daily News, “Driving Miss Daisy” is the touching tale of Daisy Werthan and her African-American chauffeur Hoke Colburn. After demolishing yet another car, Daisy’s son Boolie hires Hoke to drive his elderly mother. The story is simple but its ramifications are universal. The play, with its gentle humor and practical wisdom, inspires in us some things that we forget in this age of 24 hour news cycles and corrosive social media. That acceptance, honor, dignity and respect are things that truly matter.
