Two Artists Scholarships Awarded by Calaveras Arts Council |

Calaveras County, CA....Two scholarships totaling $1,750 have been awarded to high school seniors who will be pursuing the arts in college. The non-profit Calaveras Arts Council made the announcement following a process that began earlier this year to encourage lifelong involvement in the arts and to reward outstanding artistic talent......

Angels Camp, CA....Summer is here and so are the veggies. Fresh Fridays, is a weekly event sponsored by the Angels Camp Business Association, Fresh Fridays began today and will run thru October at Utica Park in downtown Angels Camp. Many people came to enjoy the first fresh friday of the year and found fresh veggies, fresh fruits, flowers, live entertainment and more. Garter snakes devour slugs and many other pests. Gopher snakes are especially helpful to gardeners and farmers. They prey on mice, rats, gophers, frogs, toads, salamanders, fish, slugs, earthworms, leeches and bird eggs. They hunt on land, in ponds and in slow-moving creeks and rivers.....
