A sudden rise in temperature can put outdoor workers at greater risk for heat related illnesses, according to Howard Rosenberg, the UC Berkeley Cooperative Extension agricultural personnel management specialist. May Forest Weather Update~By Lonnie Allison

Posted by: Kim_Hamilton on 05/14/2008 12:53 PM
Forest Precipitation....Based on data from Pinecrest, Mi Wok and Groveland Ranger Stations, forest precipitation to date is 57% of average. This is a drop from 63% a month ago due to April being extremely dry (.18" at Pinecrest and Mi Wok; .12 at Groveland). This is the driest March-April period on the forest based on 45 years data at the Pinecrest site. It appears that this water year (2007-2008) will end with about the same precipitation as 2006-2007. If so, this will be second driest back-to-back year period on record, surpassed only by the extreme drought of '75-76 and '76-77. This year is more deceptively dry than last because we had a lot of snow in January and February. However, last fall was very dry and it....

Get the Most From Your Caneberries~By Ken Churches

Posted by: Kim_Hamilton on 05/13/2008 04:14 PM

Fall-fruiting (ever-bearing) raspberries also need another shot of fertilizer at bloom. Remove unwanted new canes or suckers that grow up between the...

Retirement Sale at EwePhoric Yarns in Arnold~From Susanne Bergum

Posted by: Kim_Hamilton on 05/10/2008 01:01 PM
Arnold, CA.....Dear EwePhoric Friends & Family....After much consideration, I have decided that it is time to retire. This summer marks 40 years since I left home and entered the working world. While I do love my little yarn shop and value the many friendships made over the past 4 years, the time is long overdue for me to re-prioritize my life. I am looking forward to spending lots more time with family; to resurrecting 10 years of genealogy research; learning to spin & weave; to teaching the fiber arts; and to creating luscious textiles. I want to read every President's biography; may be even learn to speak Spanish; and lose those @#% pounds.....
