ANGELS CAMP, CA (July 30, 2013)—The Calaveras Visitors Bureau (CVB) has announced its 2013-14 board of directors, which includes a complete switch-up among the executive board and the addition of several new leaders from around the county. The new elected members of the board include Heather Ginn of Cave and Mine Adventures, Sid Marsh of the Ebbetts Pass Visitors Center and Bears Lair Inn, as well as Jan Hovey of Hovey Winery and Target Marketing who was also appointed to the executive board as vice president....

COUNTYWIDE – Enrollment in Calaveras Unified School District’s Sierra Hills Independent Study program is now open for students for the Fall 2013 semester. Sierra Hills provides a unique home-based learning opportunity for the 21st century parent and student. The online school allows students in kindergarten through 12th grade the experience to learn from virtually anywhere a computer will take them. Student learning is directed by an adult at home, but guided by a credentialed teacher of CUSD and is based on California state Standards.

Moderate Injuries in Motorcyle Accident Near Carson Hill |

Angels Camp, CA...On July 26 at approximately 4:05pm CHP Officers responded to a single vehicle traffic collision involving a. motorcycle on Hwy 49 near Carson Hill. It was determined that the driver of a 2000 Harley Davidson lost control of his motorcycle while negotiating a curved portion of the roadwoy. His passenger was ejected from tho motorcycle and sustained moderate injuries, consisting of abrasions and lacerations. She was transported by ambulance to Mark Twain Hospital for treatment. The motorcycle sustained very minor damage to a "crash bar", and was ridden from tho scene...

Angels Camp, CA...The Mother Lode VW Club held their 13th annual Volkswagen Show & Swap on Saturday, July 27th in Utica Park, Angels Camp. Seventy-five show cars were in attendance, including a Schwimmwagen, which is a rare VW that also can be driven into a lake, with its rear propeller and interesting shape....

Angels Camp, CA..The 2013 Oysters & Oinkers Bret Harte FFA fundraiser continued the long tradition of a great party and fundraiser to help the next generations of Future Farmers. This year's event was again a sellout and featured BBQed Oysters and Barrel Cooked Pork Loin. There were also the usual silent auction and other ways to extract money for a great cause from the attendees. The Broglio Ranch was “The” place to be on Oyster and Oinkers night.
