Angels Camp, CA.....The ongoing issue between the Calaveras County Visitors' Bureau (CVB) and the City of Angels Camp regarding the future of the Angels Camp Visitors' Center continues to unfold. As last reported here, the Personnel and Finance Committee of the Angels Camp City Council met last week, and as part of their agenda the struggle over the future of the Visitors' Center was at issue.....

Tim Shearer Not To Return As Angels Camp City Administrator

City of Angels Camp, CA...The City of Angels and City Administrator, Tim Shearer, have been unsuccessful in coming to terms regarding a new contract. Mr. Shearer was granted a leave of absence for active military duty that lasted 15 months prior to his return in December. The City and Mr. Shearer had agreed to negotiate on terms and conditions for a new agreement upon his return...

Booth Spaces Available For 1st Spring Health Fair

Mark Twain St. Joseph’s Hospital has announced the availability of booth spaces at their 1st Spring Health Fair February 27th at Ironstone Vineyards. The Fair will be held inside, start at 7:00 a.m. and end at noon. Activities will include free health screenings, blood analysis, senior services, bone density screenings, nutrition and fitness, and food, music and fun. WHEN WILL YOU EVER LEARN - CRAIG TURCO & JACK LYNCH? An Open Letter to the Residents of Angels Camp: This is not a personal attack on Jack Lynch and Craig Turco. It is about their performance while serving on the City Council. Jack Lynch and Craig Turco’s performance as City Council members is absolutely pitiful. First off, the Sierra Sentinel called Lynch, Turco, and Downey “the Three Amigos”. Many of the residents in Angels Camp are calling the three of them “the Three Stooges”. During the run up to Election Day in Angels Camp, many residents throughout Angels Camp were saying “I hope we are not going to get “LYNCHED” for another four years.” Well, the residents ......

The Calaveras Foothills Fire Safe Council obtained grant funding to develop a Community Wildfire Protection Plan for Calaveras County. This plan will help identify hazards as it pertains to wildland fire safety as well as projects designed to make our communities more fire safe. Part of this plan includes public input on projects and activities as well as informing the public on agency projects and ideas. There will be four public meetings throughout the County to kick off this project. These meetings are designed for specific geographic locations within the County, but feel free to attend any or all of the meetings. The meetings and locations affected are listed below...
