Angels Camp, CA....On Wednesday evening, September 21st, the Friends of the Calaveras County Fair voted unanimously to take over operation of the Calaveras County Fairgrounds and the 2012 Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee, effective January 1st, 2012. At the September Friends of the Fair Board meeting a unanimous decision was reached by the Directors to take over the operation and management of the Calaveras County Fairgrounds, including the annual four day Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee. This decision was made state funding for California Fairs.....

Water Conditions: New Melones Lake is currently holding 2,074,637 acre-feet of water. The lake level dropped two feet this week and is currently at 1059 ft. above sea level and 29 ft. from full. Levels will continue to drop, as room needs to be made to accommodate upcoming winter rains. Water temperature is cooling, and is currently about 75-77 degrees. Water is slightly stained, with mudlines forming in the afternoon. There is an abundance of shad and other baitfish. Watch for unmarked island tops.....

Jackson, CA...Local Entrepreneurs Bhinda and Deepa Singh who opened their first convenience store in Angels Camp last year have just opened their second location in Jackson on Hwy 49. They are bringing the same great customer service and prices to Jackson that have made Angels Mini Mart a fixture in Angels Camp. The old Sierra Trading Post Location has been remodelled and is now ready to serve customers. It is great to see young men taking risks and making them pay off even in today's economy.
