New Melonees, CA....Come down to the Visitor Center and find out who’s up when you’re not this Saturday, March 17th. We will have arts and crafts starting at 6 pm, a PowerPoint presentation at 7 pm, followed by a short hike in the Great Outdoors around the Visitor Center in search of some night-time creatures. Please wear sturdy shoes appropriate for hiking. A headlamp or flashlight is required.....

Bear Valley, CA...It will be a busy weather week and we have posted the forecast for elevation as it has the most impact on our economy this time of year. The weather snapshot starts at Bear Valley and then drops to Arnold, Murphys, Angels Camp and Copperopolis. This hopefully will give you a glimpse of what to expect by elevation. Today: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 43. South wind between 8 and 16 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Tonight: Snow. Low around 24. Breezy, with a south southwest wind between 16 and 23 mph, with gusts as high as 34 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible....

Angels Camp, CA...Miss Debbie Dene Ishie an 8 year resident of Angels Camp died at her residence on March 2nd. She was born in South Lake Tahoe and was currently a student at Columbia College. She leaves behind a young son Jaidyn Ishie-Jacobs of Angels Camp other family members. Services will be held March 12, 2012 at 3pm at the First Baptist Church in Angels Camp. Breaking News...Great Ironstone Concert Series for 2012 -Updated

Murphys, CA...Ironstone Vineyards rolled out the red carpet for the local business community to announce another great lineup for the 2012 season. Steven Kautz is proud of this years lineup and it is about 90% complete with the possibility of adding additional artists and dates. Right now they have announced. Reba McEntire on July 14th is the biggest name on the ticket and will play July 14th. A concert on June 30th with an artist to be named soon. July 7th will be their big 4th of July Show with Shane Dwight, Whiskey Dawn & Chains Required. July 21st Reba, July 28th will be Kelly Clarkson & The Fray. August 4th will be John Fogerty with all of your Credence Favorites. August 11th will be Heart & Foreigner with a couple of shows of Classic Hits between them. Sunday September 2nd will be Jackie Evancho & Tony Bennett backed by a 40 piece orchestra. September 8th will be Jeff Foxworthy. The Ironstone Concours will round out the season on September 22nd. There may be a date added on September 15th as well...

Former Mayor Ponte Announces Bid for District 4 Supervisor

Debbie Ponte, former Mayor of Angels Camp, announced her candidacy today for District 4 County Supervisor for Calaveras County. “I grew up in Calaveras County and I have been encouraged to run by community members, business leaders, friends and family. I have the character and the leadership experience to bring honor and integrity to the office and to do the job right from day one,” said Ponte. Ponte also expressed that she is excited about campaigning over the next several months, giving her the opportunity to meet the people of District 4, whom she would ultimately serve as County Supervisor. ...
