On behalf of the Board and staff of the Calaveras County Fair & Jumping Frog Jubilee we wish to sincerely thank Mrs. June Downum for her service to the 39th District Agricultural Association. As a board member Mrs. Downum always had the best intentions in her service to the Fair. Her love for the Calaveras County Fair & Jumping Frog Jubilee was obvious in her efforts and diligence. Mark Twain and Copperopolis Elementary Schools Were Awarded The California Integrated Waste Management Board Grant ~By Hanna Alldrin

Angels Camp, CA.....On April 1st, 2008 Mark Twain Elementary School was awarded a $99,515.00 grant from the California Integrated Waste Management Board. The Board promotes a Zero Waste California in partnership with local government, industry, and the public. This means managing the estimated 92 million tons of waste generated each year by reducing waste whenever possible, promoting the management of all materials to their highest and best use, regulating the handling, processing and disposal of solid waste, and protecting public health and safety and the environment.....

Welcome Friends...Can you believe that Thanksgiving is here? Time for those bitter berries that announce the holidays are upon us. Cranberries are in season from September to January. Their color differences have nothing to do with age, but with variety. They do need to be washed and picked over though. These berries are so packed with vitamin C that they retain their nutritive value even after being stored for a year or more. I remember the year we had a....

Two Choral Groups Featured in Family Concert December 14th in Angels Camp

Angels Camp, CA....As a “Prelude to the Season” the Calaveras Arts Council’s “Ovations” is presenting a special holiday choral concert for families on Sunday, December 14th at 3:00 pm. in the Dr. Ellliott Smart Performing Arts Center, also known as The Bret, on the campus of Bret Harte High School in Angels Camp. Sharing the program, which begins at 3:00 pm, will be the 20-member men’s Stockton Portsmen and the local 20-member women’s choir Mountain Melody. Tickets are only $10 each for adults, and $5 each for youth under 18. Proceeds will benefit the Calaveras Youth Mentoring Program and the Arts in Education Program of the Council. ....
