Frogtown, CA... Matt Ininarelli , owner of "The Barrel of Monkeez" which is currently being put together at at the Calaveras County Fairgrounds, reported the theft of their sign from the front of the building and some vandalism. It may seem like a harmless bit of fun for someone, but considering the amount of effort and money being spent to do something worthwhile for the community, it is something that should not have happened. With budget being tight, it is up to us as a community to be vigilant. If someone has seen this sign floating around in a shed, or car or someones yard, and they need to report it, plain and simple...

Murphys Resident Penny Miles, 52 and Eleazar Rodriguez, 49 from Galt Perished in Head on Collision on Hwy 49
Posted by: John_Hamilton on 09/29/2012 09:31 PM
San Andreas, CA...On September 29th at approximately 12:55pm, Rodreguez was driving with his passenger (Jane Doe) on SR-49 Northbound just south of Carol Kennedy Road. Miles allowed her her Toyota Tacoma to veer left from the southbound lane at an unknown rate of speed. As a result the Toyota crossed over the double yellow lines, crossed over the oncoming northbound lane, and into the oncoming far right northbound lane, directly in front of Rodriquez. Subsequently the front of the Tacoma collided with the front end of the 1998 Chevy Box Truck, causing major collision damage to both vehicles....
Angels Camp, CA...In 1928 Angels Camp paved the main street. To celebrate the occasion the citizens held a frog jump competition. This frog jump competition was modeled after the frog jump in the famous short story, "The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County", written by Mark Twain. Twain spent a great deal of time in Angels Camp and first heard the jumping frog. There are currently 87 plaques including one commemorating Mark Twain's Dan'l Webster and his jockey Jim Smiley located in front of the Angels Hotel. Residents and visitors are encouraged to view the "Frog Hop of Fame" commemorating our historic and unique jumping frog jubilee frog story at the Angels Hotel that still stands today. The event became known as the Jumping Frog Jubilee...
