To avoid injury, choose a backpack that is the appropriate size for the back it needs to fit. Select a pack with well-padded shoulder straps to prevent too much pressure from being placed on the neck and shoulders. A proper fitting backpack should rest evenly in the middle of the back, with both straps placed on the shoulders. Straps should be snug, but not overly tight; basically, the strap should be easy to take on and off but not allow the pack to hang more than 4 inches below the waist. If the backpack comes with a waist belt, it should be worn to help distribute the weight more evenly...

Here are some of dogs that are currently at the county shelter and available for adoption. While these dogs are at the county shelter, Calaveras Humane Socoety is working to get them out and into their forever homes. Charlie is a Bloodhound/German Shepherd mix and is about 10 to 12 months old. He weighs 51 lbs., and is still growing. Lola is an Anatolian mix (maybe Saluki) and is about 2 years old. Angels Camp, CA...Another great production by CSTARS is now playing at the Bret Harte Performing Arts Center. We stopped by their dress rehearsal last night and it is a great show!
