Winter’s cold brings coat weather and robust appetites. There is no better time to savor hearty comfort foods with a good bottle of local wine and a crusty loaf of bread then now. Comfort foods capture earthy flavors, bring warmth to our chilly bones and keep us coming back for more. Even the gloomiest of days this time of the year can be made brighter serving a tasty comfort food to our family and friends. Sundays are a great day for spending time at home, inviting a neighbor or friend for a simple supper, and filling the house with the aroma of bubbling pots of stews and soups. Have your purchased your 2010 fishing license yet? Don't forget to pick one up before you head out to the lake. There have been a couple of changes this year- the Bay/Delta stamp has been discontinued- you willl no longer need one of those. And after March 1st, 2010, you will not be required to wear your license in plain view while fishing. Remember that you DO need to wear it in plain sight above your waist until March 2, 2010, when the new regulations take affect....

Altaville, CA....Alice Lee born January 19, 1922 passed away on January 5, 2010 at her home in Altaville. Alice was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years Delbert Lee. She is survived by her sister Clara Perrin, 4 children Jack Lee, Linda Lee-Barnes, Barbara Lee-Erickson, and Dennis Lee, 8 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild. Alice’s ancestors, the Egan Family, were among the first settlers of Copperopolis, where Alice was born. She resided in Altaville all of her adult life and was proud of her California roots. .....

Angels Camp, CA...We were informed by George Fry this morning that he plans to run for 25th District Assembly Seat. Yesterday, Tuolumne County's, Teri Murrison also announced she will be seeking the seat. Terri is a District 3 Supervisor for Tuolumne County. George Fry just finished up his campaign in the Angels Camp Council race. We are awaiting a formal press release from Fry's campaign.....
