CHP New Years Weekend Statistics

Calaveras County, CA...The number of accidents and DUI arrests over the New Years weekend were lower this year (there was one less day this year compared to last year). Statewide, the CHP arrested 873 drivers on suspicion of driving under the influence compared to 1252 for the same period last year. 15 people died in automobile accidents in the state this year, which is a significant decrease from 30 people for last year.....

Angels Camp, CA....January 2011 marks the 10th annual National Mentoring Month (NMM) campaign to recruit volunteer mentors for youth mentoring programs across the country, and the Calaveras Youth Mentoring Program is reaching out to Calaveras citizens for help. Many children in the county are on the waiting list for a mentor, and there are a variety of ways to keep this vital program going for our community’s children.....

Angels Camp CA.....After a long discussion of water billing regarding the Angels Camp Cemetery, local politics came to the fore as the Angels Camp Personnel Finance and Quality of Life Committee, and the Calaveras Visitors Bureau met in official capacity on what might seem to be an old agenda item: To try and find a solution to the issue of how the visitors center downtown can continue to exist as a viable enterprise, and within the budget of both the City of Angels Camp and the Calaveras Visitors’ Bureau, was the contentious question of the evening.....
