Calaveras County, CA....Mark Twain Student Council Supports "Seeds of Kindness" Project with a Generous $500 Donation today. The 2011 project goal is to raise $ 3,600.00. The money will be used to help purchase miles of blue ribbon and thousands of pass it on light blue kindness ribbons. Students and parents from Copperopolis , Michelson and Mark Twain schools are making donations, between them a total of $1,100, helping to fund the program. Relay for Life Calaveras will be held on April 30th to May 1st, 2011 a 24 hour event. Here is a new team for the event and their fundraising goals. The Job Connection Calaveras Relay For Life team will hold a bake sale on Saturday, February 12, 2011 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at Angels Food Market in Angels Camp. Angels Camp, CA....The City of Angels PERSONNEL/FINANCE QUALITY OF LIFE COMMITTEE is back in action on Monday, February 7, 2011 at 4:00 P.M.. The Meeting will be held at the ANGELS FIRE HOUSE, 1404 Vallecito Road, Angels Camp, CA. Committee Members: Jack Boeding, Craig Turco, Dave Richards, Melisa Ralston and Mary Kelly will be present. The Meeting will start with Public Comment regarding the Visitor's Center Building Occupancy and TOT Funding. Use options and lease proposals will be discusses for the building. As of now, there are two parties who have presented a proposed Lease Agreement for the center, the Calaveras Visitor's Bureau and the Calaveras Chamber of Commerce. .....

Angels Camp, CA....The Friends of the Calaveras County Fair are hosting a Pre-Fair Dinner Dance and local mustache display. The Whiskerino Dinner Dance is planned for Saturday, April 30, 2011. The Whiskerino is the official kick off event leading up to the Calaveras County Fair & Jumping Frog Jubilee May 19 – 22, 2011. The Whiskerino has a fine historic tradition in Calaveras County. Although the Whiskerino dates back to the 1940s it was revitalized in the 1950’s and held for the next forty years. In 1955 Bob Petithome, Angels Camp resident, won the award for best full beard. He says the best part of the event was seeing “all the slick chins” try to grow beards.......
