Burning remains Suspended Fire Danger Remains High Despite Cooler Weather

San Andreas, CA...As fall brings cooler weather and the first signs of rain, many people believe that fire season ends. The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE), Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit, is reminding all residents that burning remains suspended. Mark Twain Medical Center Welcomes Orthopaedic Surgeon to Calaveras County

San Andreas, CA...Mark Twain Medical Center has recruited a board certified orthopaedic surgeon to Calaveras County. Dr. Elisabeth Siegler will practice full-service orthopaedic surgery in Calaveras County starting in November. She will be joining Dr. Craig Lovett along with the Mark Twain Family Medical Center Team at the Specialty Care Centers in both Angels Camp and Valley Springs.“Mark Twain Medical Center is proud to bring another excellent and highly skilled orthopaedic surgeon to our community,” said Craig Marks, Hospital President. “Dr. Siegler treats injuries and disorders of the skeletal system and associated muscles, joints and ligaments. Angels Camp, CA...The Calaveras Visitors Bureau (CVB) revealed the 2013 Innovations in Tourism Award-winners at its annual dinner, which was held Tuesday, October 29 at CAMPS Restaurant at Greenhorn Creek. Each year, the CVB recognizes an outstanding business that has gone above and beyond to attract visitors to Calaveras through new or unique ideas, products or services. To encourage more innovation throughout the county, this year the CVB expanded its Innovations in Tourism Awards to recognize multiple businesses from various sectors of the tourism industry...


CVB Board President Stephen Kautz and Assemblyman Frank Bigelow with Wendi and Bruce Davison from Arnold Black Bear Inn, the winners of last night's lodging category, as well as the Most Innovative Business of the Year award.

Traffic Update...Vehicle Accidnet, Vehicle Off Roadway

Angels Camp, CA...Crews are working an incident with a vehicle 100ft off the roadway on Hwy 49 near Carson Hill. Calaveras Sheriff's Department is checking for injures and is on scene at this time. Update...Minor Injury and the driver climbed up to the roadway. There looks to be a separate non injury incident south of this as well...

Snow On The Way Till Wednesday...Bear Valley Getting Ready for 2013/2014 Season

Bear Valley, CA....There is white in the forecast until Wednesday. Bear Valley hopes to open by Thanksgiving if mother nature cooperates. They will be ready on the operations side from Winterfest onward. Today Snow showers. High near 32. South southwest wind 14 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible. Tonight Snow showers likely. Cloudy, with a low around 21. South southwest wind 13 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of around an inch possible. Tuesday A 30 percent chance of snow showers, mainly before 11am. Partly sunny, with a high near 39. South wind around 7 mph. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible....


One of the great things about this area is the micro climates. Don't like the weather where you are. Just dive 30 minutes. The image above starts at Bear Valley at the top with Copperopolis on the bottom.

Wells Fargo Foundation Donates $2,500 for Youth Mentoring

Angels Camp, CA...The Calaveras Mentoring Foundation recently received a $2,500 grant from the Wells Fargo Foundation. This is the second Wells Fargo grant for youth mentoring in Calaveras County. “We are honored and thrilled to earn the continued support of our local Wells Fargo,” said Calaveras Mentoring Foundation President Peggy Lucas. “Community partnerships like this are what keep the Mentoring Program strong.”
