San Andreas, CA...Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) announced that there is a Public Safety Power Shutoff Potential from Sunday, October 25 into Tuesday, October 27 and could remain off for as long as five days. Water and sewer utilities across Calaveras County are jointly urging customers to conserve water and only use it for critical health and safety needs during PG&E’s planned Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS).

Sacramento, CA...Governor Gavin Newsom announced on October 20th the retirement of California Highway Patrol (CHP) Commissioner Warren Stanley following nearly four decades of service to the people of California. The Governor also announced the appointment of CHP Deputy Commissioner Amanda Ray as the next CHP Commissioner effective November 17, making her the first woman and second African American ever to lead the agency.

Sacramento, CA...The California Transportation Commission approved more than $830 million to repair highways and bridges and improve the state’s growing network of pedestrian, bicycle and mass transit routes. This investment includes more than $600 million in allocations for State Highway Operation and Protection Program (SHOPP) projects, Caltrans’ “fix-it-first” program aimed at preserving the condition of the State Highway System.

San Andreas, CA...The Calaveras County Water District is pleased to announce that Jessica Self is the District’s new External Affairs Manager. Her first day on the job will be Monday, October 26. Ms. Self is from Arnold and will be returning to Calaveras County after living out of state for the last several years to pursue educational and professional opportunities. For the last three years, she was the Grants and Development Manager for the Palouse Conservation District in Pullman, Washington, where she excelled in a role similar to her new position at CCWD. She graduated from Western Washington University with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology before earning a Master of Science in Biology from Georgia Southern University. In addition to her degrees, Self is also a certified Project Management Professional.
