Posted by: thepinetree on 01/25/2018 08:16 PM
Sacramento, CA... Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. delivered his 16th - and final - State of the State address today asserting that the "bolder path is still our way forward" on climate change, infrastructure investment, health care, education and criminal justice. In his remarks, the Governor pointed to a number of far-reaching, bipartisan measures passed in recent years - from pension and workers' compensation reform to the Water Bond, Rainy Day Fund and the Cap-and-Trade Program - that demonstrate "some American governments can actually get things done."

State Dept on Venezuela's Snap Presidential Elections ~ By Heather Nauert

Posted by: thepinetree on 01/24/2018 09:26 PM
Washington, DC...The United States strongly rejects the call by Venezuela’s illegitimate Constituent Assembly for snap presidential elections before April 30. It would not reflect the will of the Venezuelan people, and would be seen as undemocratic and illegitimate in the eyes of the international community. We call on the Maduro regime to respect the human rights of all of its citizens, and to return to democratic constitutional order.

Senate Voting To Get Govt Back Open

Posted by: thepinetree on 01/22/2018 09:58 AM
Washington, DC...It seems if the logjams have been temporarily cleared enough for the Senate to overwhelmingly vote to get the US Government officially back up and running. For 99.9% of Americans it will be as if it had never been closed. Questions still remain on if the American People will start ranking Washington as functioning better. Congress especially has low approval ratings and this last weekends obvious dysfunction will probably not inspire confidence....
