Snowpack Below Average Despite Gains Says DWR

Posted by: thepinetree on 02/02/2018 08:30 AM
Sacramento, CA...Despite moderate January precipitation in the Sierra Nevada after an historically dry December, today’s Department of Water Resources (DWR) manual snow survey east of Sacramento found little snowpack there, two months into what is typically California’s wettest three months. Measurements at Phillips Station revealed a snow water equivalent (SWE) of 2.6 inches, 14 percent of the early-February average at Phillips as measured there since 1964. SWE is the depth of water that theoretically would result if the entire snowpack melted instantaneously. “California experiences the most variable weather in the nation,” said DWR Director Karla Nemeth. “It’s vital that water conservation efforts remain consistent regardless of the year’s precipitation.”

President Trump at the 2018 House and Senate Republican Member Conference

Posted by: thepinetree on 02/01/2018 08:38 PM
White Sulphur Springs, WV...Thank you, Paul and Mitch, for the introduction and for your tremendous leadership. You folks have done well. I just looked at some numbers. You’ve even done better than you thought, I think — (laughter) — based on what we just saw about 10 minutes ago. And I want to thank you, to the Governor of this incredible state, my very good friend, Jim Justice and his wonderful wife, Cathy, who are with us. And Jim is now a proud member of the Republican Party. He was a Democrat. He switched over, right? (Applause.) You don’t see that too often. Maybe we’ll see it more and more. But thank you, Jim. And the hotel is beautiful, and everything is beautiful. We appreciate it.

Attorney General Becerra Demands Trump Administration Must Immediately Withdraw Proposal to Open California's Coast to Offshore Drilling

Posted by: thepinetree on 02/01/2018 09:39 AM
Sacramento, CA...California Attorney General Xavier Becerra today called on the Trump Administration to immediately withdraw its proposal to open California’s coast to new offshore drilling. In a letter to Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke, Attorney General Becerra underscores that the Administration’s proposal – known formally as the National Outer Continental Shelf Oil and Gas Leasing Program – would severely damage California’s economy and pose a dire threat to its environment. The letter is signed by a coalition of 12 Attorneys General, each of whom outlines the many harms that offshore drilling would inflict upon their respective states.

Posted by: thepinetree on 01/31/2018 05:42 PM
Murphys, CA...One of the great things our local government has done is make disposing of trash easier and cheaper than many of our surrounding counties. In fact it had become a problem for residents of neighboring counties to visit Calaveras just to visit one of our transfer stations. All you have to do is show an ID and it is free for most normal items. Apparently a few locals have missed these memos(Or just didn't want to show and ID). So below are the hours of the transfer stations.

President Donald J. Trump’s State of the Union Address

Posted by: thepinetree on 01/30/2018 05:18 PM
Washington, DC...Remarks as prepared for delivery: TO THE CONGRESS OF THE UNITED STATES: Mr. Speaker, Mr. Vice President, Members of Congress, the First Lady of the United States, and my fellow Americans: Less than 1 year has passed since I first stood at this podium, in this majestic chamber, to speak on behalf of the American People — and to address their concerns, their hopes, and their dreams. That night, our new Administration had already taken swift action. A new tide of optimism was already sweeping across our land. Each day since, we have gone forward with a clear vision and a righteous mission — to make America great again for all Americans.
