Speaker Ryan on the Situation at the Border & House to Vote on Immigration Tomorrow

Posted by: thepinetree on 06/20/2018 09:52 AM
Washington, DC...Speaker Ryan spoke about the situation at the border, saying the House will consider legislation tomorrow to keep families together during their legal proceedings. “First, I want to say a few words about the situation at the border. As I said last week, we do not want children taken away from their parents. We can enforce our immigration laws without breaking families apart. The administration says it wants Congress to act, and we are.

Synthetic Biology Could Expand the Possibility of Creating New Weapons

Posted by: thepinetree on 06/20/2018 03:19 PM
Washington, DC...Synthetic biology expands the possibilities for creating new weapons — including making existing bacteria and viruses more harmful — while decreasing the time required to engineer such organisms, concludes a new report by the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine. Although some malicious applications of synthetic biology may not seem plausible right now, they could become achievable with future advances.

AG Becerra: Forcibly Separating Children from Their Parents Is Inhumane and Unnecessary

Posted by: thepinetree on 06/19/2018 09:21 AM
Sacramento, CA...California Attorney General Xavier Becerra today joined New Mexico Attorney General Hector H. Balderas and 19 attorneys general in demanding the U.S. Department of Justice immediately end its new “zero tolerance” immigration policy which separates children from their parents. Remarks on the UN Human Rights Council From Mike Pompeo & Nikki Haley

Posted by: thepinetree on 06/19/2018 08:47 PM
Washington, DC...Good afternoon. The Trump administration is committed to protecting and promoting the God-given dignity and freedom of every human being. Every individual has rights that are inherent and inviolable. They are given by God, and not by government. Because of that, no government must take them away. For decades, the United States has led global efforts to promote human rights, often through multilateral institutions. While we have seen improvements in certain human rights situations, for far too long we have waited while that progress comes too slowly or in some cases never comes. Too many commitments have gone unfulfilled.

President Trump at a Meeting with the National Space Council and Signing of Space Policy Directive

Posted by: thepinetree on 06/18/2018 08:45 PM
Washington, DC...Thank you very much, everybody. Thank you very much. This is an incredible time for our country. I would say that our economy — and many of you know that very well — is doing better than it ever has done. Our employment numbers are the best that they’ve been, perhaps ever, but certainly in recorded history. Reports just came out — best in 44 years. Black unemployment is the lowest level in history. Hispanic unemployment, lowest level in history. Women unemployment, lowest level in 21 years. It started at 19, went up to 20; now it’s up to 21. Very soon it’s going to be in history.

Post Primary Comments From Supervisor Candidate Merita Callaway

Posted by: thepinetree on 06/18/2018 07:44 PM
Murphys, CA...Having been involved in Calaveras County government for many years, I am constantly impressed with how much the people in District 3 care about our community. The 278 men and women who publicly endorsed my campaign represent a cross section of people who make this district the wonderful place that it is. The Democrats, Republicans, and Independents who supported me are more concerned with achievements than party labels.
