President Trump at Cherry Point, NC Briefing on Hurricane Florence Recovery Efforts

Posted by: thepinetree on 09/19/2018 10:32 PM
Cherry Point, NC...Well, thank you very much everybody. We appreciate it very — the job you’ve done has been incredible. Incredible. They’re talking about it all over the world. And we want to keep it going that way, because some of the hard work is now. We’ve gone through very dangerous work, and still dangerous, but some of the hard work is taking place right now, even though it’s nice and beautiful and sunny. I was talking to the Governor. And, Governor, I want to thank you. A really fantastic — a fantastic job. But in speaking to the Governor, some of the flooding is actually epic. Hard to believe. And we’ve seen all the pictures where houses are literally covered beyond the roof. You don’t even know there’s a house there. And, you know, one of those things. Well, the water is starting to go down now, finally.

As Fire Prevention Week Approaches, We Encourage Residents to “Look. Listen. Learn.”

Posted by: thepinetree on 09/18/2018 12:28 PM
Sonora, CA...In a typical home fire, you may have as little as one to two minutes to escape safely from the time the smoke alarm sounds. Knowing how to use that time wisely takes planning and practice. CAL FIRE Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit (TCU) and Tuolumne County Fire Department (TCFD) are teaming up with the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) to promote this year’s Fire Prevention Week campaign from October 7th through October 13th,2018 , “Look. Listen. Learn. Be aware. Fire can happen anywhere™,” which works to educate the public about basic but essential ways to quickly and safely escape a home fire.

Kavanaugh Denies Allegation Anew, Arrives at White House

Posted by: thepinetree on 09/17/2018 10:35 AM
Washington, DC...(AP) Brett Kavanaugh and the woman accusing him of a decades-old sexual assault both indicated Monday that they would be willing to testify to a Senate panel as the confirmation of President Donald Trump’s Supreme Court nominee shifted from seemingly painless to problematic. Kavanaugh was seen arriving at the White House, with no immediate reason given, while all 10 Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee wrote the panel’s Republican chairman asking him to postpone a scheduled Thursday vote on the nominee to give the FBI more time to investigate. Posted by: thepinetree on 09/17/2018 04:48 PM
Washington, DC...Today, following seven weeks of public notice, hearings, and extensive opportunities for comment, I directed the United States Trade Representative (USTR) to proceed with placing additional tariffs on roughly $200 billion of imports from China. The tariffs will take effect on September 24, 2018, and be set at a level of 10 percent until the end of the year. On January 1, the tariffs will rise to 25 percent. Further, if China takes retaliatory action against our farmers or other industries, we will immediately pursue phase three, which is tariffs on approximately $267 billion of additional imports.
