San Andreas, CA...Swift, 54, of Angels Camp, has been a court executive officer at the Calaveras County Superior Court since 2011. He served in multiple positions at the Amador County Superior Court from 1999 to 2011, including superior court commissioner, court executive officer and research attorney. Swift was an associate attorney at the Law Offices of Charles S. Limandri from 1995 to 1998 and a partner at the Law Offices of Swift and Connolly from 1991 to 1995. He was an associate attorney at Koeller Nebeker Carlson and Halluck from 1988 to 1991, at Mullen Dofflemyre and Frazier from 1986 to 1988 and at Tucker Goldby and Freedman from 1985 to 1986...

For the first time in years, both parties came together in the spirit of compromise to pass a budget – one that helps chart our economic course for the next two years. This budget will unwind some of the damaging cuts that have threatened students and seniors and held back our businesses. It clears the path for critical investments in the things that grow our economy and strengthen our middle class, like education and research. And it will keep reducing our deficits – at a time when we’ve seen four years of the fastest deficit reduction since the end of World War II...

San Andreas, CA...No Approval for Murphy’s Storage. Last Thursday, after hours of comments and discussion, county planning commissioners agreed the proposed Minarik RV storage project was NOT a good fit for a C-1 zoned parcel (adjacent to the entry to Forest Meadows). To watch the public hearing and hear reasons for rejection, visit CAP ’s December 12 Planning Commission meeting video page. The Minarik project will come back for formal action—consideration of Denial—at the January 9, 2014, PC meeting.

CCOE Staff Brings In Over 1000 Food and Toy Items |

Angels Camp, CA...Calaveras County Office of Education staff united to bring in over 1,000 food and toy items for The Resource Connection Food Bank. The office held a friendly team competition where the staff was divided into two groups: Red-Santa Team, Green-Elf Team. The team that brought in the most items earned the privilege to wear jeans for a week. The staff came through with flying colors. In the end it was a tie, and all staff will be able to wear jeans for a week!

$152 Million Allocated for Transportation Pushes 2013 Total Past $3 Billion |

Riverside, CA...Continuing the push to rebuild California’s infrastructure and spur job growth, the California Transportation Commission (CTC) has made new allocations totaling $152 million to 36 projects statewide. This latest round of funding drives the total amount of transportation funding allocated in 2013 beyond the $3 billion barrier. “The billions in funding we’ve invested in transportation has kept workers on the job building better roads, bridges, rail, and transit that will benefit California for decades to come,” said Caltrans Director Malcolm Dougherty...
