VA Launches Advanced Telehealth Program For Enhanced Services For Veterans in Rural Areas

Posted by: thepinetree on 08/05/2017 06:53 PM
Washington, DC...Good morning. I’d like to begin by thanking Secretary David Shulkin for the incredible progress that he’s making at the VA -- tremendous strides. Thank you very much, David. We appreciate it. The veterans appreciate it, I can tell you that. Today, I’m pleased to announce another historic breakthrough that will expand VA services to many more patients and veterans. We will do this through telehealth services. It’s what it’s called -- telehealth services. We’re expanding the ability of veterans to connect with their VA healthcare team from anywhere using mobile application on the veteran’s own phone or the veteran’s own computer. This will significantly expand access to care for our veterans, especially for those who need help in the area of mental health, which is a bigger and bigger request -- and also in suicide prevention. It will make a tremendous difference for the veterans in rural locations in particular.

Posted by: thepinetree on 08/03/2017 09:01 AM
Washington, DC..."Thank you very much. It's great to be here today to unveil legislation that would represent the most significant reform to our immigration system in half a century. I want to thank Senators Tom Cotton and David Perdue for their tremendous work in putting together this historic and very vital proposal. As a candidate, I campaigned on creating a merit-based immigration system that protects U.S. workers and taxpayers -- and that is why we are here today. Merit-based.

President Donald J. Trump on Venezuela

Posted by: thepinetree on 08/02/2017 08:17 AM
Washington, DC...Since my inauguration, the Trump Administration has called on Venezuela’s Maduro regime to respect Venezuela’s constitution, respect the role and authorities of the constitutionally established National Assembly, hold free and fair elections, address the humanitarian needs of the Venezuelan people, release political prisoners, and stop oppressing its great people. The regime has refused to heed this call, and its recent actions—culminating in yesterday’s outrageous seizure of absolute power through the sham election of the National Constituent Assembly—represent a very serious blow to democracy in our hemisphere. Maduro is not just a bad leader; he is now a dictator.

President Donald J. Trump on Signing the “Countering America’s Adversaries Through Sanctions Act”

Posted by: thepinetree on 08/02/2017 08:53 AM
Washington, DC...Today, I signed into law the “Countering America’s Adversaries Through Sanctions Act,” which enacts new sanctions on Iran, North Korea, and Russia. I favor tough measures to punish and deter bad behavior by the rogue regimes in Tehran and Pyongyang. I also support making clear that America will not tolerate interference in our democratic process, and that we will side with our allies and friends against Russian subversion and destabilization. That is why, since taking office, I have enacted tough new sanctions on Iran and North Korea, and shored up existing sanctions on Russia.

Congressman McClintock Praises Detwiler Fire Efforts on House Floor:

Posted by: thepinetree on 08/01/2017 09:20 AM
Washington, DC...Mr. Speaker: I want to begin by saluting the more than 5,000 firefighters from 40 cooperating agencies that assembled under the coordination of CAlFIRE to battle the Detwiler fire that threatened Yosemite Valley and its gateway communities. I spent Saturday at the command centers in Mariposa and Merced Counties and what I saw is what I have seen time and again at so many fires we are having these days in the Sierra: cool, calm professionalism, selflessness and devotion to duty.
