Senator McCain Floor Statement on Need for Bipartisanship

Posted by: thepinetree on 07/25/2017 07:15 PM
Washington, D.C....U.S. Senator John McCain (R-AZ) today delivered the following remarks on the floor of the U.S. Senate: “Mr. President: “I’ve stood in this place many times and addressed as president many presiding officers. I have been so addressed when I have sat in that chair, as close as I will ever be to a presidency. It is an honorific we’re almost indifferent to, isn’t it. In truth, presiding over the Senate can be a nuisance, a bit of a ceremonial bore, and it is usually relegated to the more junior members of the majority.

Meet and Greet California Governor Candidate Delaine Eastin and Lieutenant Governor Candidate Eleni Kounalakis on Sunday, July 23rd

Posted by: thepinetree on 07/23/2017 02:32 PM
Murphys, CA...Delaine Eastin, Candidate for California Governor and Eleni Kounalakis, Candidate for California Lieutenant Governor Will be at Hovey Winery, 350 Main Street, Murphys, California at 4:00 pm. About Delaine Eastin: Throughout her career, Delaine Eastin has been a leader who has never been afraid to stand up to bullies on behalf of what is right for the future of our state and our children. Delaine took on the tobacco industry and helped pass two propositions: one educates children on the dangers of smoking, and the second created and funds First 5 California, the critical program that focuses on child development from ages zero to five. As State Superintendent, Delaine joined the successful lawsuit against Governor Wilson’s Proposition 187, that onerous legislation that tried to make police, health care professionals and our teachers de facto immigration agents. During her tenure as Superintendent, Delaine reduced class sizes in grades K-3, and California went from 47th in the nation in funding, to 27th. Sadly, we now rank in the bottom 10 again. As State Superintendent, Delaine Eastin fought tirelessly for the children of California…and she won many battles. Now she is ready to take this fight into the Governor’s office.

Letter to the BOS – Let the People Vote ~ Letter to the Editor By David Tunno

Posted by: thepinetree on 07/21/2017 03:08 PM
Valley Springs, CA...If the Board of Supervisors desires, ultimately, not to make the final decision on whether marijuana activities should be allowed in Calaveras County, or at what level, but instead to let the voters decide, then they should consider the following: Having made my living as a trial consultant for nearly 30 years, which includes the science of public opinion research via long-established polling methods, it is important for the results of the polling to be unambiguous. To achieve that result, the question must be unambiguous and it’s best if they require bi-polar responses, responses that are opposite one another, a “yes/no” response, for example. Better yet is if there are two questions, each requiring a bi-polar response and each being polar opposites of each other.
