Calaveras Transit Facing Operational Funding Shortfall of over $420,000

Calaveras Transit is facing an operational funding shortfall of over $420,000 for FY 2009/10. The Calaveras County Department of Public Works will be presenting proposed service reductions and fare increases to the Board of Supervisors on Tuesday, June 2, 2009 at the regularly scheduled meeting. A public hearing is scheduled for 9:30am to hear public input regarding the proposed changes.

San Andreas, CA...The Board of Supervisors voted this morning to formally separate the Calaveras County Building and Planning Departments. This ended an at times stormy marriage of departments. Interim CDA Director, Brent Harrington's last day on the job is this Friday. The "White House" as one Supervisor referred to it is now open fully staffed and ready for customers. Newly hired George White is now heading the Planning Department and Calaveras County Decorated Veteran Jeff White is the head of the Building Department....

Gov. Schwarzenegger Announces Exceeding Federal Expectations, Obligating $1 Billion Recovery Act Funds Two Months Ahead of Deadline~by David Anderson

Sacramento, CA....Focused on pumping American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (Recovery Act) funding into the California economy as quickly and effectively as possible, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger today announced that over $1 billion in Recovery Act funding has now been obligated to 80 transportation infrastructure projects statewide. Under the Recovery Act states were given 120 days to obligate the first half of their transportation infrastructure funding, and California has obligated this funding in less than 60 days – over two months ahead of deadline. Additionally, California is the first state in the nation to obligate $1 billion of this funding.......

The will start out with a Closed Session at 5pm Discussing Title 22/Greenhorn Creek and also CCWD, UPA and City of Angels, then move to the Regular Meeting at 5:45pm. They will start the meeting with Abatement Items concerning the Lode Hotel and the owners progress towards compliance; Lisa Mayo, Executive Director of the Calaveras Visitor's Bureau will speak requesting May 9th~14th 2009 as National Tourism Week; Consideration of new requirements for acceptance of easement of public walkway and more. Motorized Travel Management Comment Period Extended

Sonora, CA…The Forest Service today announced that the sixty day public comment period on the Stanislaus National Forest Motorized Travel Management Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) has been extended for an additional 15 days. Comments on the DEIS are now due by Wednesday, May 20, 2009. Since the March 6 beginning of the DEIS 60-day public review and comment period the Forest has conducted a total of six public meetings, a series of four open house workshops, and an internet “webinar” teleconference. Copies of the DEIS and newly published Errata are available at all Stanislaus National Forest offices. .....
