San Andreas, CA....The Board of Supervisors are back in action Tuesday morning at 9am. County Counsel will be discussing granting tentative approval for an agreement to transfer land to the Administrative Office of the Courts for courthouse construction; A Minute Order authorizing Board Chair to sign a contract with Environmental Alternatives for a maximum of $84,000 for the term May 19th, 2009 through June 30, 2010 to help implement the Transitional Housing Placement-Plus program; The Bret Harte Benefit Basin Update urgency measure will be discussed; A closed session with Bill Claudino vs. the County of Calaveras will take place and more. Calaveras Transit Facing Operational Funding Shortfall of over $420,000

Calaveras Transit is facing an operational funding shortfall of over $420,000 for FY 2009/10. The Calaveras County Department of Public Works will be presenting proposed service reductions and fare increases to the Board of Supervisors on Tuesday, June 2, 2009 at the regularly scheduled meeting. A public hearing is scheduled for 9:30am to hear public input regarding the proposed changes.

San Andreas, CA...The Board of Supervisors voted this morning to formally separate the Calaveras County Building and Planning Departments. This ended an at times stormy marriage of departments. Interim CDA Director, Brent Harrington's last day on the job is this Friday. The "White House" as one Supervisor referred to it is now open fully staffed and ready for customers. Newly hired George White is now heading the Planning Department and Calaveras County Decorated Veteran Jeff White is the head of the Building Department....

Gov. Schwarzenegger Announces Exceeding Federal Expectations, Obligating $1 Billion Recovery Act Funds Two Months Ahead of Deadline~by David Anderson

Sacramento, CA....Focused on pumping American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (Recovery Act) funding into the California economy as quickly and effectively as possible, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger today announced that over $1 billion in Recovery Act funding has now been obligated to 80 transportation infrastructure projects statewide. Under the Recovery Act states were given 120 days to obligate the first half of their transportation infrastructure funding, and California has obligated this funding in less than 60 days – over two months ahead of deadline. Additionally, California is the first state in the nation to obligate $1 billion of this funding.......
