The White House on a Year of Action to Combat the Opioid Crisis

Posted by: thepinetree on 10/24/2018 01:10 PM
Washington, DC...One year ago this week, President Donald J. Trump declared the opioid crisis a public health emergency. Ever since, the Trump Administration has applied an all-of-Government approach to the epidemic, allowing each agency and department to do their part to help the cause. This is a crisis that cannot be solved through Government action alone. Private-sector and nonprofit partners are stepping up and stepping in to make a difference. The packages are being sent for analysis at the FBI Laboratory in Quantico, Virginia. “This investigation is of the highest priority for the FBI. We have committed the full strength of the FBI’s resources and, together with our partners on our Joint Terrorism Task Forces, we will continue to work to identify and arrest whoever is responsible for sending these packages,” said FBI Director Christopher Wray. “We ask anyone who may have information to contact the FBI. Do not hesitate to call; no piece of information is too small to help us in this investigation.”

Washington, DC...Good afternoon, everyone. I want to start off by offering a somber commemoration. Thirty-five years ago today, a Hizballah terrorist, trained by the Iranian regime, drove a truck packed with explosives into the Marine barracks in Beirut, Lebanon, killing 241 Marines, sailors, and soldiers. We will never forget that cowardly act of terrorism or the heroes who came in peace and gave their lives that day. The President just spoke, as many of you know. I have five topics I want to address today that will add color to some of the things that the President said.

Washington, DC...Today, the Council of Economic Advisers (CEA) released a report outlining the opportunity costs of socialism on the macro economy, including standards of living, and the impact on the Federal budget.  Coincident with the 200th anniversary of Karl Marx’s birth, socialism is making a comeback in American political discourse. Detailed policy proposals from self-declared socialists are gaining support in Congress and among much of the electorate.

This is the executive summary but you can read the full report here or by clicking the image above.
