National Day of Prayer for all Americans Affected by the Coronavirus Pandemic and for our National Response Efforts

Posted by: thepinetree on 03/15/2020 10:16 AM
Washington, DC...In our times of greatest need, Americans have always turned to prayer to help guide us through trials and periods of uncertainty. As we continue to face the unique challenges posed by the coronavirus pandemic, millions of Americans are unable to gather in their churches, temples, synagogues, mosques, and other houses of worship. But in this time we must not cease asking God for added wisdom, comfort, and strength, and we must especially pray for those who have suffered harm or who have lost loved ones. I ask you to join me in a day of prayer for all people who have been affected by the coronavirus pandemic and to pray for God’s healing hand to be placed on the people of our Nation.

Fed Drops Rates to Zero & Announces QE Program Ahead of Monday Market Openings

Posted by: thepinetree on 03/15/2020 03:14 PM
Washington, DC...The coronavirus outbreak has harmed communities and disrupted economic activity in many countries, including the United States. Global financial conditions have also been significantly affected. Available economic data show that the U.S. economy came into this challenging period on a strong footing. Information received since the Federal Open Market Committee met in January indicates that the labor market remained strong through February and economic activity rose at a moderate rate. Job gains have been solid, on average, in recent months, and the unemployment rate has remained low. Although household spending rose at a moderate pace, business fixed investment and exports remained weak. More recently, the energy sector has come under stress. On a 12‑month basis, overall inflation and inflation for items other than food and energy are running below 2 percent. Market-based measures of inflation compensation have declined; survey-based measures of longer-term inflation expectations are little changed.

Governor Newsom Calls for Home Isolation for Those 65 & Older

Posted by: thepinetree on 03/15/2020 04:36 PM
Sacramento, CA.."Those that are 65 and older or vulnerable to #COVIDー19 must practice home isolation. Bars, night clubs, wineries, and breweries should close in CA. Restaurants -- focus on takeout for those isolating. Maximize social distancing." While these may be good medical suggestions, testing civil liberties & business liberties in this manor may launch widespread pushback against these orders. Americans like to make informed decisions for themselves. This may take the focus off the virus where it belongs and move it to violations of civil liberties.

President Trump, Vice President Pence, and Members of the Coronavirus Task Force in Press Briefing

Posted by: thepinetree on 03/14/2020 08:16 PM
Washington, DC...Thank you very much. We just completed a very good meeting of the Coronavirus Task Force. And we — we’re really — they’re really doing a great job, our professionals. The results are very — very, very good. And when you compare this to what’s happening around the world, we’re very proud of our people. And there’s been a tremendous amount of coordination with states, with cities, and they’re a little smaller form of government, and they have things going well. They’re coordinating with us. And certain, in particular, I think California has been terrific — the relationship. New York has been really good. We’ve had some really good relationships in terms of — especially the hotspots. And we’re focused on those hotspots. In some areas, we don’t have no problem whatsoever, and we hope to keep it that way.
