The Ideas Were Recreating at the Parks & Recreation Forum Held Last Evening in Murphys~By Mary Boblet

Posted by: Kim_Hamilton on 01/15/2009 08:40 AM
Murphys, CA...Anyone interested in the future of the parks and other recreation facilities and activities in Calaveras County were invited to attend a meeting to be held in Murphys last evening. The meeting was organized by the county’s Recreation and Parks Commission, and aided by the Murphys Community Club, the gathering was designed to obtain public input to assist the commission in its efforts to create a Recreation Master Plan. This plan will be included as an element in the County Master Plan. Similar meetings are being held throughout the county. The discussion was chaired by commissioner Mason Goodale who states “As we produce our Recreation Master Plan we need to identify community needs for the next five to twenty years. “We invite the public to share their current recreation experiences and what they envision for the future that would enhance the quality of life in District 4 and the rest of the county. Nothing is out of bounds, and ideas need not be planned out in any way.” For this meeting the commission was particularly interested in the opinions of people who reside in Angels Camp, Vallecito, Douglas Flat, and Murphys. They wanted to hear from hikers, cyclists, equestrians, athletes, and those involved in youth sports, in addition to dog walkers, kite flyers, quilters, and families who enjoy a picnic. The meeting held last evening was an open forum to talk about what kinds of parks and recreation facilities and programs District 4 citizens would like to see.....

Hi John & Kim, I was listening to talk radio this evening, Dr. Bill Watenberg, KGO Radio, and he mentioned Assembly Bill 885 as a concern to all rural counties in California. This bill was passed back in 2000 but has yet to be adapted by the California Water Resources Board. It is currently in a public input mode up to Feb 9. Should this bill be adapted, it will effect many property owners in Calaveras County with mandatory inspections and .....
