Washington, DC... Rep. McClintock delivered the following statement on the House floor in opposition to H.R. 5: Ms. Speaker: There are some fundamental principles we should all be able to agree on. Don’t hurt other people; respect the right of doctors to do no harm; respect the right of parents to protect their children. The bill before us today could have affirmed the right of every adult to declare their own gender consistent with these principles. Unfortunately, it violates these principles in the most fundamental ways.

Sacramento, CA....Governor Gavin Newsom today announced that he has granted seven pardons. People who have been convicted of a crime in California may apply to the Governor for a pardon. The California Constitution gives the Governor the authority to grant clemency. A pardon does not minimize past conduct; it recognizes a person’s subsequent progress and accomplishments. A pardon does not expunge or erase the conviction.
