Washington, DC....The President via Twitter..."I informed John Bolton last night that his services are no longer needed at the White House. I disagreed strongly with many of his suggestions, as did others in the Administration, and therefore I asked John for his resignation, which was given to me this morning. I thank John very much for his service. I will be naming a new National Security Advisor next week."

Expansion of California’s Red Flag Law Heads to the Governor

Posted by: thepinetree on 09/09/2019 03:53 PM
Sacramento, CA...California is poised to expand its red flag law after a recent study suggested such policies may be effective in reducing the risk of mass shootings. The Assembly sent Governor Newsom AB 61 by Assemblymember Phil Ting (D-San Francisco) today, which gives more Californians access to a court process that could temporarily take away someone’s firearms through a Gun Violence Restraining Order (GVRO), if they pose a danger to themselves or others. Current law only allows law enforcement and immediate family members to file a GVRO. Ting’s proposal adds educators, employers and co-workers.

No Harmful Algal Blooms Found in CCWD Water Supply Testing

Posted by: thepinetree on 09/07/2019 02:58 PM
San Andreas, CA...Over the past few months, harmful algal blooms (HABs) have been identified in Calaveras County and throughout California by the State Water Resources Control Board, including in New Melones and New Hogan reservoirs (click here for more information). In light of these concerns, the Calaveras County Water District collected water samples in all rivers, lakes and reservoirs that are used to supply drinking water to customers and sent them to a lab for analysis. All test results came back negative for HABs, which means that harmful algae was not present at those sampling locations.
