Calaveras County, CA...The date for Preliminary Budget Hearing Deliberations, originally continued from June 24, 2009 to July 8, 2009 has been changed. Continued Preliminary Budget Hearing Deliberations will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. or as soon thereafter as can be. Location: Cal Works Sequoia Room, 509 E. Busy Agenda for the Angels Camp City Council Meeting Planned for Tuesday July 7th

Angels Camp, CA....The Angels Camp City Council is back in action Tuesday, July 7th at 4pm, starting with Closed Sessions. They will then reconvene at 5:30pm with consideration of Abatement of the Lode Hotel a continued item from June 2, 2009 meeting. City Staff will continue to monitor the owner's progress towards compliance with the Abatement Order of 12/08; At 5:45pm, Planning Commission Interviews will take place. The regular meeting will begin at 6pm. Some of the agenda items being discussed will be a Resolution approving the submission of a CDBG application for a Wayfinding Plan for the Angels Camp downtown commercial district; Update and process for administering HCD Facade Grant; A Public Hearing for name change of portion of Hwy 4 near bypass; A Public Hearing on Greenhorn Creek Landscaping and Lighting District; Approval of 2009/2010 tentative budget; Request to UPA for repayment of $55.000 for Darby Fire expenses; Angels Camp Bypass Opening Ceremonies and more. Angels Camp, CA...It is shaping up to be an opening worth of not just one but two parties. On July 21st, from 4:30pm to 7:30pm the local business community is throwing a party to commemorate the opening. There will be a Fun Run/Walk, Food, Music, Prizes and much more. Bear Valley, OARS, Ironstone, Mark Twain St. Joseph's Hospital and many more are stepping up to support the celebration. On the morning of July 22nd will be the Official Caltrans led Ribbon Cutting Ceremony. Local and State dignitaries including the Governator himself have been invited...

FEMA’s new flood maps show that various parcels throughout the county, including Mountain Ranch, Valecito, and Valley Springs, are now partially or fully located within a designated flood hazard area, based on the countywide geographic information system......

CCWD SERVED WITH COMPLAINT BY UTICA POWER AUTHORITY

ANGELS CAMP, CA – Calaveras County Water District was served today with the complaint in the lawsuit filed by the Utica Power Authority (UPA) on April 29, 2009. UPA held off serving the Complaint until now to allow negotiations between the agencies to proceed with the hope of reaching a settlement without moving to the next step in the litigation. Representatives from UPA and CCWD have been meeting since November 2008, with further meetings in March, April, and May 2009, and most recently on June 10, 2009, in an attempt to reach an overall agreement on the issues between the agencies....

Blue Lake Springs has to cancel July 4th Fishing Derby

Arnold, CA....Due to a lawsuit filed in 2006 against the Department of Fish and Game (DFG) it is a requirement that all private lakes obtain a stocking permit. Unfortunately, due to the lawsuit filed, the DFG cannot grant BLS a stocking permit for this year 2009. Therefore we will not be able to hold the Annual July 4th Fishing Derby....
