Letter to the Editor~From George Fry in Response to Diane Gray's Statement Which is Enclosed

Posted by: thepinetree on 08/04/2009 11:01 AM
"Open letter to Diane Gray....Before I begin I want you to know that what I will be writing is not meant to be personal as it is not in my nature to carryout personal attacks. Yes I am the first to admit that I am very assertive in a positive manner and hopefully factual in my comments. Commenting on your statement that was in “Copperopolis Today” I would like to give you some background as to why I honestly feel compelled to make several comments.....

Letter to the Editor~by Ed Rich in Response to Letter from Jeff Davidson, Letter Enclosed As Well

Posted by: thepinetree on 08/04/2009 11:05 AM
August 3, 2009

"Thank you Director Davidson,

I was in the grocery store last evening and a shopper saw my campaign button and said, “Did you see the letter to the editor in the Calaveras Enterprise attacking you”? I didn’t, so while at the checkout stand I purchased a paper, then went home and drafted a lengthy response about the half truths and personal attacks that Director Davidson is well known for. The events leading to the decision to dismiss the General Manager (GM) were neither “abrupt” nor a surprise to any director that would listen. Proper procedure was followed and this letter is intended to clarify what is going on at the CCWD....

California's Amber Alert Celebrates Seven Years of Saving Lives~by Jana Saastad

Posted by: Kim_Hamilton on 07/29/2009 01:03 PM
SACRAMENTO – Sen. George Runner (R-Antelope Valley) today announced that July 30 is the seventh anniversary of California’s Amber Alert, which resulted from legislation authored by the state senator in 2002 – and since that time has recovered 179 abducted children. “Amber Alert saves lives,” Runner said. “When activated, the system puts the entire state on alert and places the kidnapper and getaway car under the spotlight – which has caused many abductors to return the kids when they realized they weren’t going to get away with their crime.”...

State courts ordered closed 1 day per month

Posted by: Kim_Hamilton on 07/29/2009 05:18 PM
(07-29) 16:16 PDT San Francisco (AP) --State officials have ordered California state courts to close one day each month to save money. The unprecedented move, which includes shuttering the California Supreme Court along with every appellate and trial court in the state the third Wednesday of every month, is one of the first tangible effects of lawmakers' new deal to close a $24 billion budget deficit....

"Davidson’s polemic and my response"~by Bob Dean

Posted by: Kim_Hamilton on 07/29/2009 05:43 PM
"How do you clean up a train wreck? By “train wreck” I mean ThePinetree.net tirade CCWD director Jeff Davidson represented as an editorial. I had to read it several times to sort out the many threads of confused thoughts that were woven through the paragraphs of vitriol. In many places it is difficult for the reader to separate opinion from fact, from anger and from conjecture. Leaving the reader hanging on points that were never addressed (and can never legally be addressed because of confidentiality issues) begs the question: why bring it up in the first place? Perhaps it was for dramatic effect. Perhaps it was for impact. After all, if you want to be.....

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger
State Capitol Building
Sacramento 95814

Re: State Parks

Governor Schwarzenegger:

It is unlikely that anyone could look upon the Sequoiadendron giganteum and not feel a sense of awe and reverence. The Board of Supervisors of Calaveras County encourages you and the legislature to save the heart of California, our parks. The challenge that you face is truly a trail we wish you and the state did not have to walk; and as you have stated, our parks give endless possibilities, the terrain unrivaled and its beauty breathtaking. Calaveras Big Trees State Park in Arnold is as John Muir said, “A flowering glade in the very heart of the woods…” The Indian Grinding Rock near Jackson is a tribute to the Miwok who passed through without disturbing anything; and Columbia State Historic Park in Tuolumne County, is a living gold rush town. And the two bookends of the Ebbetts Pass National Scenic Byway are Calaveras Big Trees and Grover Hot Springs State parks. These are examples of the heart of our state.....

Recent Firing of CCWD GM David Andres Was a Huge Mistake ~Editorial by CCWD Director Jeff Davidson

Posted by: thepinetree on 07/27/2009 07:45 PM
San Andreas, CA...The recent firing of CCWD GM David Andres was indeed a huge mistake by the three directors who voted yes. It was a mistake for several reasons and I, like director Underhill want rate and tax payers to know what it cost and how it happened. Dave Andres was told he would be fired before either myself or director Underhill knew it was being discussed. CCWD like any other Special District is bound by law to conduct its self in accordance with the Ralph M Brown Act. The Open Meeting Laws were clearly broken here...

CCWD Candidate Statement on Don Stump For CCWD Director District 3~With Video Interview

Posted by: thepinetree on 07/26/2009 08:05 PM
“Hello, my name is Don Stump and I’m running for CCWD director in District 3”. This sentence was how I introduced myself to over 1000 voters in District 3 when I walked through neighborhoods knocking on doors in the District, during the last six weeks. I felt it was important for me to hear what the voters were concerned about and give each voter the opportunity to ask me about my qualifications, my ideas for the future, and what I have done to prepare for this position. I decided 18 months ago to run for this office. To....
