Sacramento, CA...Last week, Representative Paul Cook (R-San Bernardino) introduced the Coronavirus County Relief and Stability Act (H.R. 7090), allowing every county to receive direct federal assistance amidst the coronavirus and reauthorizing the federal Payments in Lieu of Taxes (PILT) program for five years.

The Judicial Council of California Voted to End COVID-19 Bail Policies Effective June 20th

Sacramento, CA...The Judicial Council of California voted to end the COVID-19 emergency bail schedule, as California begins a phased re-opening and courts restore services shuttered due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  The Judicial Council voted 17-2 to rescind, effective June 20, the COVID-19 temporary bail schedule that set presumptive bail at $0 for people accused of lower-level crimes, a measure to curb the spread of COVID-19 in jails and surrounding communities.

New Cases of COVID-19 Jump in Calaveras County, Four New Cases Today in Valley Springs

Valley Springs, CA....On Thursday, June 11, 2020, Calaveras Public Health reported four additional cases of COVID-19 in Calaveras County. The four cases include 2 people between the ages of 18 to 49 years old, one person between the ages of 50 to 64, and one person over the age of 65 years old. All four cases reside in Valley Springs. The source of exposure to COVID-19 for each case has not been determined at this time.

Calaveras County Moves Into Stage 3 Beginning Friday June 12, 2020

San Andreas, CA...Beginning Friday June 12, 2020, Calaveras County will move into Stage 3 of the Roadmap to Recovery and reopen additional sectors of local businesses with measures to protect public health and safety. In addition to the existing sectors that have reopened with modifications as part of Stage 2 of the Roadmap to Recovery, the following sectors may also reopen this coming Friday with modifications:
1. Restaurants, Bars and Wineries
2. Fitness centers and gyms (includes pools)
3. Campgrounds, RV Parks, and Outdoor Recreation (includes pools)
4. Hotels, Lodging, and Short Term Rentals (includes tourism, individual travel and pools)
5. Day Camps (excludes children’s active sport day camps and overnight camps)
6. Card Rooms, Satellite Wagering Facilities, and Racetracks (specific guidance for tribal casino-based gaming)
7. Film, TV, and Music Production (must follow Office Workspace Guidance)
8. Professional Sports Without a Live Audience (must follow Office Workspace and Retail Guidance)
9. Movie Theatres and Family Entertainment Centers (includes bowling alleys, miniature golf, batting cages, and arcades)
10. Zoos, Museums, Galleries, and Aquariums

Stanislaus National Forest Revises Forest Order, Removes Some & Extends Other Seasonal High-Elevation Roads

Sonora, CA...The Stanislaus National Forest revised its seasonal high-elevation road closure order. The revision lists only five forest roads that remain closed through June 30, 2020 due to lingering snow. The previous order included sixteen high elevation roads. Two Additional Valley Springs COVID-19 Cases Confirmed in Calaveras County

Valley Springs, CA...On Tuesday, June 9, 2020, Calaveras Public Health learned of two additional cases of COVID-19 in Calaveras County. The two cases include an adult male and adult female both from Valley Springs. The source of exposure to COVID-19 has not been determined at this time. “As we start to see more cases and as more areas of our county open up, we may get to a point where the source of exposure is unknown,” said Dr. Dean Kelaita, Calaveras County Health Officer. “Get tested if you are concerned that you have COVID-19. The most important advice is to continue to take preventive actions to avoid being exposed to the virus in the first place.”

Governor Newsom will work toward a statewide standard for policing peaceful protests and ending the carotid hold. This announcement follows the work California did last year to enact the nation’s strongest standard for police use of deadly force.
