San Andreas, CA...Dear Judge Healy, California Penal Code §933(a) states: "Each Grand Jury shall submit to the presiding judge of the superior court a final report of its findings and recommendations that pertain to county government matters during the fiscal or calendar year…” In conformance with the aforementioned Penal Code requirement, the 2018-2019 Calaveras County Grand Jury approves and respectfully submits this report to you, the Honorable Timothy S. Healy, Presiding Judge, Superior Court of California, Calaveras County. In our final report you will find nine (9) Civil Government and Special District investigations completed by the 2018-2019 Grand Jury.

More Than Half a Billion Dollars Allocated to Preserve and Upgrade Highways and Bridge

Sacramento, CA...The California Transportation Commission allocated more than $533 million for 120 State Highway Operation and Protection Program (SHOPP) projects throughout California, including more than $229 million for 42 fix-it-first projects funded by Senate Bill 1 (SB1), the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017. Projects allocated SB 1 funds at the June CTC meeting will improve 11 bridges, more than 346 lane miles of pavement, upgrade 547 congestion reducing devices, and repair 155 culverts to prevent flooding on highways.
Boil Water Notices Issued to 800 Customers in Rancho Calaveras

Rancho Calaveras, CA...Update 9 a.m. Tuesday July 2: There has been concern among CCWD customers in Rancho Calaveras that their water supply is contaminated. To address this concern, we would like to remind our customers that this boil water notice was issued out of an abundance of caution following a major leak repair. While it is highly unlikely that anything harmful entered the water supply, the State requires water suppliers to issue boil water notices when water pressure drops below a certain level, and CCWD is complying with this regulation. The notice will be lifted once precautionary testing has been completed for two consecutive days.
Calaveras County and City of Angels Camp to Begin Survey of Road Conditions

San Andreas, CA...In April 2017, Senate Bill 1 (SB 1) was signed, which will invest $52.4 billion dollars over the next decade to fix roads, freeways and bridges in communities across California. The new funding package results in an average annual increase of approximately $2.5 million for Calaveras County and $75 thousand for the City of Angels Camp over the next ten years dedicated to maintenance and rehabilitation projects. To ensure that Calaveras County residents get the most cost-effective maintenance plan from these additional revenues, the County and City are working to implement a Pavement Management Plan.
Attorney General Becerra Applauds Ruling Blocking Trump’s Funding for Border Wall

Sacramento, CA...California Attorney General Xavier Becerra today issued the following statement in response to a decision by the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California to find unlawful and permanently block President Trump’s attempt to divert $2.5 billion in funding to begin building a border wall in El Centro, California and New Mexico. The decision grants in part California’s and New Mexico’s motion for partial summary judgment filed on June 12, 2019 and enters a partial judgment in favor of California and New Mexico. In a related proceeding, Sierra Club, et al. v. Donald Trump, et al., the District Court also granted in part Sierra Club’s motion for partial summary judgment and permanently enjoined the Trump Administration from proceeding with construction.
California Department of Justice Announces New Ammunition Regulations

Sacramento, CA...The California Department of Justice (CA DOJ) has issued a notification to California ammunition vendors regarding new ammunition regulations taking effect as part of Proposition 63. The ammunition-related regulations explain: the process that must be followed to purchase or transfer ammunition; what to do if an attempted purchase or transfer is denied; and what is needed to be exempt from CA DOJ approval to purchase or transfer ammunition.
