San Andreas, CA...California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE), Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit would like to congratulate Unit Chief Josh White on his retirement after 32 fire seasons of dedicated service to the State of California including seven years as our Unit Chief. On April 1st, CAL FIRE Director Thom Porter stated, “I am pleased to announce the appointment of Nick Casci to the position of Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit Chief.”

London, UK..Since Sunday evening, the Prime Minister has been under the care of doctors at St Thomas’ Hospital, in London, after being admitted with persistent symptoms of coronavirus. Over the course of this afternoon, the condition of the Prime Minister has worsened and, on the advice of his medical team, he has been moved to the Intensive Care Unit at the hospital.

Sacramento, CA...Following the Judicial Council of California's emergency meeting, California Attorney General Xavier Becerra issued updated guidance to California tenants, encouraging them to learn about their rights if they will not be able to pay their full rent as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Attorney General encourages tenants to learn about their rights under the state Judicial Council’s April 6 emergency eviction rule, which expanded the statewide protections previously put in place by Governor Gavin Newsom’s executive order at the end of March.

Sacramento, CA...The California Department of Public Health today announced the most recent statistics on COVID-19. California now has 15,865 confirmed cases and 374 deaths. As of April 6, local health departments have reported 269 confirmed positive cases in health care workers. San Andreas, CA...In compliance with Governor Newsom’s COVID-19 “Stay at Home” order, the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) Tuolumne – Calaveras Unit will transition to an online burn permit website for residential dooryard burn permits. Property owners currently in possession of a previously issued permit are encouraged to check the expiration date, as permits are valid for two years.
